South of Mombasa, Diani Beach is often billed as one of the best in Africa: kilometres of palm-fringed, brilliant white sand beach, with the cerulean blue waters of the coastal lagoon lapping at the shore. Its beauty and abundant activities make it a rather popular and bustling area, but at the southernmost tip you can find the near-private Galu beach. No less picturesque, but considerably more peaceful.
Here you will find Kindondo Kwetu: a boutique lodge with a relaxed feel; the Swahili name literally translates to "Our Home at Kinondo". The friendly welcome, homely atmosphere yet well-managed, professional team create a lovely atmosphere that appeals to all sorts of different groups – from honeymooners to families. There is plenty of space to spread out through the grounds, as well as numerous rooming options, all of which have a traditional Swahili aesthetic and tasteful design.
If you’re just here to relax and unwind, there are two swimming pools in addition to the beautiful beach, as well as a sauna (thanks to the Swedish owners). For those desiring some more movement, Kinondo has a tennis court, on-site stables, plus a small outdoor gym and yoga deck secreted amongst the trees. Naturally there is also a whole host of watersports available, as well as excursions into the local area.
