Starts: JKI Airport Nairobi
On arrival at the airport, you’ll be greeted by a driver after you’ve collected your bags.
Nairobi to the coast by 4WD & light aircraft
After a transfer from the international to the domestic airport, take a light aircraft of around an hour over the Chyulu Hills and Tsavo National Park to the small Ukunda Airport. From here, it’s a bumpy 20-minute drive along the palm-lined coast road to the sea – and Kinondo Kwetu.

Having stayed here a number of times, we think this is one of the very best small hotels on the coast. The combination of chic African design, excellent food, gently enveloping (but not overbearing) service, and charming and genuine hosts is altogether irresistibly good. There's plenty to do here if you get tired of doing nothing, but you need to be aware that there are no local restaurants or bars nearby. See our full report on Kinondo Kwetu

4WD & light aircraft from the coast to Nairobi
A driver from Kinondo Kwetu will take you the short journey along the bumpy coastal road to Ukunda Airport, in time for your late-afternoon light-aircraft flight back to Nairobi Wilson Airport. Here you’ll be met by a private driver to take you to the international airport for your flight home.
