"Recently renovated old school colonial hotel"

1 night Arrived 8 Nov 2014
"It's a predicable choice but a lovely place to end a safari. Hard to go wrong and worth splashing out on a nice room.

Recently seen some renovation work which was well done but still feels authentic. And well run and staffed too." See all these reviews: 5n in Zambia; 4n in Zimbabwe

"Victoria Falls Hotel"

2 nights Arrived 12 Oct 2014
"A true five star hotel very much in the colonial style. Our room was extremely comfortable and relaxing, which was just what was required after eight days on safari, being bounced around in a Land Rover.

Three restaurants provide differing dining experiences, although we were unable to sample all as our stay was limited. The evening entertainment at the Jungle Junction restaurant was excellent and slightly hypnotic.

The location of the hotel for visiting the Falls is excellent. Just a short, albeit hot, walk to the Park entrance.

This hotel provided an excellent conclusion to out outstanding Botswana Safaris." See all these reviews: 8n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"We enjoyed the hotel. It felt a bit like living in the past as it is very traditional - but we enjoyed the feeling.

Front desk staff were a bit grumpy looking but the waiting staff were very cheerful and helpful." See all these reviews: 11n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Victoria Falls Hotel review"

2 nights Arrived 17 Sep 2014
"A beautiful stay - we were treated like royalty. Breakfast was lovely as was the dinner in the outdoor restaurant; also tea, sitting on the veranda. Would have liked more feedback on best time of day to visit the Falls (ended up going when was much too hot). Also would help to have guidelines on tipping" See all these reviews: 11n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Victoria Falls Hotel review"

2 nights Arrived 22 Aug 2014
"Excellent location for town hotel and beautiful lawns/views. Plenty of interesting history on display. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Downsides? Personal view is that would prefer to feel a bit more "part of the hotel" and maybe due to size/layout etc it could be said to feel a bit "soulless" but, if so, much less so than other hotels in the town." See all these reviews: 5n in Mozambique; 5n in Zimbabwe; 1n in South Africa

"A Classic"

2 nights Arrived 9 Jun 2014
"We were lucky to be upgraded to a suite. Not sure why as our travelling companions weren't, however their room had a lovely view over the gardens to the river and bridge, so no complaints there.

This lovely classic colonial style hotel has retained its atmosphere and excellent standards. With great views of the bridge and river it has a wonderful location and old world charm and the falls are an easy walk from the hotel.

Breakfasts and terraced lunches were excellent. The famous Livingston Room dinner was set in an elegant dining room but the food was a little lacklustre.

We did not feel unsafe, but as anywhere where there is hardship in the local community, you do need to be careful about valuables.

We took a tour with Wild Horizons which we booked at the hotel, and which was extremely disappointing. It was supposed to be a sundowner cruise, not a booze cruise, but having spent nearly an hour in the coach collecting other people from different hotels, we arrived to find that we could not choose where to sit, or with whom, and as soon as we sat down alcohol was being handed out very liberally. We spent some time moored up before a pretty short trip on the river, took a few photos as the sun was beginning to go down, and were back on the bus heading home long before sunset."
