"Luanga River Camp review"
The crossing of the river into the park made for a spectacular start to a drive. The Park here is a little busier than at some other places. On one occasion we had the experience of being one vehicle among half a dozen surrounding a pride of lions - I guess this is what it's like in some of the more commercially exploited safari parks elsewhere. Having said that, the rest of the time we managed to avoid other people and the walking in the morning was great." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia
"Luxurious Camp in the Central Area"
The chalets are spacious and luxurious and you have a fantastic view from the camp at and over the river. All people at the camp are friendly and helpful and the food was not only very good but also imaginative!
Although the camp is located outside the park it's easy and quick to get into the park - just by crossing the river with the vehicle passing many crocodiles and some irritated hippos.
Inside the park the game drives take place in the central (Mfuwe) area of the South Luangwa National Park where you can see much game and it seems to be the best place to see leopards in Zambia!
But there are not only many animals in this area but unfortunately also many other vehicles especially at the night drives. One morning we saw a beautiful male leopard and when we returned to this area again in the afternoon there were 13 vehicles standig at or around this poor animal!
Nevertheless it is a great area to observe wildlife and the Lunagwa River Camp a perfect place to stay" See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia
"Such comfort at Luangwa river camp"
Polly is the hostess with the mostess and she and all the staff went out of their way to make everything perfect for us and the camp is so comfortable. Both my grandchildren had birthdays while we were there and she produced wonderful boxed "bush" birthday presents in the shape of a sausage from the tree for the 12 year old and a box of dried elephant dung for the 15 year old!! - they were highly amused. Also they each received a delicious iced cake complete with candles - such a treat.
Sebastian was ever patient and an easy, humourous guide, ever answering questions which must be tiring! We also had a good day visit to the Kawaza school and lunch at the village, and appreciated our dinner even more than usual!" See all these reviews: 8n in Zambia

"Paradise at Luangwa River Camp"
Our stay here was brief but Polly, our host, was so wonderful with such an engaging personality, backed up with considerable experience of working and travelling in Zambia, we felt we had been there for days rather than one night. Yona, our guide was also a big personality and ensured our last night in South Luangwa was truly memorable. Having enjoyed almost total solitude on our previous drives and walks, the constant presence of other vehicles, especially noticeable as night, slightly impaired the Safari experience; there are many more lodges in the viciniity of Luangwa River Camp, so company is inevitable. However, being relatively close to the airport made this an ideal final destination and ensured we had time to visit the hugely impressive Tribal Textiles establishment.
Polly and the camp staff were so helpful and ensured that belongings that we had left behind caught up with us in Lusaka for which we are indebted to them." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
"Fantastic experiences at Luangwa River Camp"
Whilst at the camp we went on a tour of a local village and school which was very moving and educational, particularly for our fourteen year old who is now trying to arrange for some books to be sent to them. We felt very humbled by this experience and the hospitality shown by Constantine and his family was enjoyed and appreciated.
The safari vehicles were very comfortable and our most memorable viewing was being underneath a leopard eating an impala up a tree, being circled by two hyenas and two younger leopards all hoping for some leftovers.
The only useful tip I wish I had known was to have my hat and suncream available on arrival at the airport for the drive to the camp." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

The staffs can't do enough. Our guide even helped us to arrange Emma's Birthday party in the next lodge on the 10th of April.
No complains what so ever." See all these reviews: 6n in Zambia
"Luangwa River Camp review"
We had some good sightings here including a couple of baby elephants playing mock charges in the early eving sun, and a week old hippo.
The main area has a lovely large bar and seating area with a small plunge pool out front - ideal for relaxing after a hard day's game viewing. The rooms are a good size, with a large bathroom area, and well spaced out.
We understand the rooms are currently being refurbished as Robin Pope has only recently taken over the lease on this camp. We're sure this is going to become a firm favourite." See all these reviews: 8n in Zambia

We don't like long drives in the dark and Irene made alternative arrangements for us so that we returned quickly after sundowners." See all these reviews: 5n in Zambia
"Slightly disappointed at Luangwa River Lodge"
We were somewhat disappointed by the way game drives where conducted. It seemed there was a bit of a shortage of guides and/or vehicles. This meant that sometimes there were seven people in the vehicle which felt a little cramped. Also the vehicles seemed to lack some maintenance. The brakes tended to make a terrible screeching noise scaring any wildlife within sight.
On morning game drives we left the lodge a bit later than we would have wanted (perhaps this was a request of other guests?). Because we had to cross the river the game drive would start at around 7 in the morning.
We did have a great time here and saw a lot of great stuff." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
