"Three Rivers Camp review"
completely free of phones and wifi makes this lodge particularly tranquil
Superbly crafted star-gazing beds. A wet sheet rather than a duvet made the roof fan work perfectly in 35 degrees in the night! (mid October)" See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

Having a waterhole close by gave an extra special experience as the game came for a well deserved drink!" See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia
"Three Rivers Camp review"
As with Island Bush Camp, we had a problem in getting walking safaris as all the other guests wanted drives. This was sorted up to a point, with one afternoon walk offered.
Other than that, it was a great place, brilliantly run by TJ and the game drives guided by Andrew were fantastic, with a highlight being spending 2.5 hours watching a leopard with a very recently killed impala. In the cabins (we had Kudu), we particularly enjoyed the elevated star room (a sort of annex to the main cabin) which gives great game viewing by day, and sleeping under the stars at night. Overall the cabin seemed quite heavily constructed for a bush camp, though this just reflects a personal preference for simple materials in bush camps.
Camp meals were excellent (everyone ate at one table) as was the overall organisation and vibe, and the common areas were a delight." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia; 6n in Malawi
"Three Rivers Camp review"
Other aspects made up for it; for example, the wildlife in the camp was amazing, the star beds were an outstanding experience, we never saw another safari vehicle and we had a unique experience on the beach of the river with 3 lionesses and a cub at sunset, which made for spectacular pictures.
Two things I didn’t like was the water, it was terrible and coffee/tea was the last thing prepared for breakfast, it should have been the first thing!
The star bed was amazing! Overall the food was good, but it was a set menu. The staff was very good and we enjoyed TJ, the camp manager." See all these reviews: 6n in Zambia
"Beautiful setting and very remote"
The guides and staff are probably also pretty new at their jobs and are doing their best and learning. I think if they can handle the fly problem this camp will become much better in the future." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia
"Three Rivers Camp review"
However the best part was the star beds, this was just magical and so well thought out and designed. Jabes our guide was outstanding, with an excellent knowledge of birds and animals. It was great that he took us back to Kafunta lodge and then remained as our guide there. It would have been good if TJ had asked about the interests of different groups, so that birding people were not put with those that had no interest in them.
The matter was resolved by a quiet word with him, but one guest was rude to us at dinner, which could have been avoided" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia
"Three Rivers Camp review"
The camp truly in the wild and was full of elephants and hippos, there were lions very close by and a leopard was under our friend's tent one morning. We often had to be transported to and from the tent and bar area Our guide Jabes was excellent.
The comments about Kafunta and sharing vehicles applies to this camp too ie it would have been a good idea to ask about interests and put guests with similar interests together. This did happen but after we told the staff that there were differences about whether some guests were happy sharing with bird watchers.
The only real downside was the number of tsetse flies in the area. We were all badly bitten despite using copious amounts of insect repellant. Nothing seemed to work though the burning of elephant dung at the back of the vehicle did seem to help a bit." See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia
"Three Rivers amongst the Elephants"
The close proximity to the Elephant coming to the watering hole was an incredible experience.
The food was SUPERB.
The rooms were beautiful and the highlight was sleeping on the sky bed, under the stars. It was wonderful hearing the sounds of animals grazing on the other side of the canvas tent.
TJ was a wonderful and enthusiastic host, who took the safety of his guests very seriously, much appreciated.
The staff were all extremely friendly.
The walking safari was also a wonderful experience." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Three Rivers Camp review"
Three Rivers Camp was our favorite of the camps at South Luangwa and we loved the star bed. There were lots of elephants in the camp and hippos grazing at night. The area immediately around the camp is very open, making for good driving safari, but further away it is all dense woodland. However, one night we had good sightings of 2 different leopards by spotlight.
The manager TJ was very welcoming, attentive to all details including giving rides from bungalows to the dining area when elephants were in the camp, and a great host. On our last morning we wanted to walk but Andrew told us no scout was available. TJ asked what we had planned and when we reported that no scout was available he found one for us so we had a good walk before driving back to Kafunta."
