"Our first visit to Luangwa River Camp"
The camp itself is surrounded by trees and bushes (more so than Nkwali and Nsefu) and is further from the river. This meant that the room was relatively dark during the day but this was not a problem as the communal area had comfy seating and a more open aspect. As with all the camps the food was delicious. We cannot praise the staff too highly - all the staff were helpful, polite and provided great service. Moses, our spotter, gave us two great opportunities to see bush babies. The guiding was fantastic - special thanks to Kanga.
There is one innovation that RPS has introduced that we hope they will reconsider - the request for a customer satisfaction survey on an iPad on the morning of our departure. Although I willingly completed the survey and rated RPS very highly I did not enjoy the experience - it seemed at odds with their otherwise very high quality of service." There were a fair number of other vehicles around compared to the other places we visited but not so many that the experience was spoiled. We did a very good walk which included seeing a leopard on foot which was thrilling.
A feature of our trip to Zambia which we particularly enjoyed was the ability to go out on night drives in the National Park and we were able to see a lot of nocturnal creatures. Yvonne, the camp manager, was particularly charming and helpful." See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia
"Two nights at Luangwa River Camp"
The Camp was exceedingly well run by Daudi, whose guiding skills are very good, and Yvonne. Access to the National Park is very quick as the river was low enough for vehicles to drive through. We saw much game, and lions and leopards each day.
We congratulate the chef and his team for the excellent dinners and lunches we enjoyed." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia
"Luangwa River Camp review"
The welcome was so warm, the service exceptional, the food amazing, the cleanliness wonderful, the accommodation comfortable and relaxing, and the pool a welcome break after safari trips.
The highlight though are the twice-daily safari drives. Our jeep was led by Jonna and he was amazing not only at finding the animals (there are NO fences at South Luangwa), but also his knowledge is amazing and his willingness to seek out animals we wish to see is fabulous.
We were lucky to witness a lion kill, something that was magical in a strange sort of way, but to witness nature in its rawest way was a privilege we will all remember forever.
A truly wonderful experience." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia
