"Luangwa River Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 29 Jul 2015
"This was my second visit to the camp and my daughter's first. I loved it there last time and was just as pleased to be there on this trip.

The hostess, Polly, is very welcoming and well-organised. The location of the camp by the river, with the national park on the other side, makes for an exciting beginning to every game drive as you cross the river in the land cruiser. The wildlife is abundant and varied. During breakfast on our first morning a herd of elephant walked along the river bank in front of us as the sun rose. It set the scene for a fabulous three days." "Wonderful start to our trip!"

3 nights Arrived 1 Feb 2015
"Incredible welcome after a long journey from York (36 hours!) from Polly and Sebastion and team who made every effort to welcome and befriend us.

Accommodation spot on, food wonderful and the atmosphere relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble they even prepared a surprise Bush breakfast for us on an Island for our last lunch there and made us feel very privileged.

The game viewing was superb and the transfer by boat everytime exhilarating." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia

3 nights Arrived 9 Oct 2014
"Great experience at Luangwa River Camp, although "river camp" led me to believe we'd be nearer the river and in actuality because the water is so low, there wasn't really a "river camp" feel about it.

But regardless, the facilities and most especially, the team of staff and our guide Yona, were fantastic. We did a community/village visit as well as morning and afternoon/evening game drives - all highly recommended." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia; 3n in Tanzania

"Lovely last camp"

2 nights Arrived 22 May 2014
"We stayed at Luangwa river camp for the last two nights of our trip and it made a good ending to a great holiday. The resident elephant family seemed happy to share the site with us.

Having come from more remote camps we wondered if we might find the park too busy. There were more vehicles and roads but it was not a problem. We had excellent leopard, lion and wild dog sightings. The river was still quite high so entrance to the park was by boat which made a great start to the game drives.

Polly and team are wonderful hosts and lead lively conversations in the bar and over dinner. The food is excellent and very varied, we were not expecting this standard. The extra little touches mean a lot...the bag of muffins in case we were hungry at the airport were very much appreciated, especially since it was hard to leave." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Luangwa River Camp review"

1 night Arrived 23 Apr 2014
"Polly the hostess made us very welcome here. It is a small camp and we were only there for one night. The camp is fronted by the river - it is a beautiful setting and we reached it by boat, which added another dimension to our trip. It was good to be actually on the river, if only for a short while. The chalets are of high quality, and it is very peaceful.

There were only 4 other guests whilst we were there and everyone eats together at a set time. If we had been staying longer I think we would have preferred a more 'staggered' time for eating, as we are not so keen on a set time, but everyone was very friendly and sociable.

We particularly enjoyed the 'stir-fry' b-b-q whilst we were there for the evening, out under the glorious night sky." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Leopards everywhere!"

2 nights Arrived 16 Mar 2014
"We arrived in pouring rain and were not impressed at having to negotiate muddy and slippery river banks and a boat trip in the dark to reach the camp when still in our travelling clothes. We were very concerned that our luggage would get soaked through; perhaps a waterproof covering could be provided in the car/boat? However the warm welcome from Polly and Sebastian and a welcome drink soon restored our equanimity. Polly was an excellent hostess and Sebastian appeared to have an almost magnetic attraction for leopards!

Our room was very comfortable though some aspects were looking a little tired. The sunken bath is an impressive feature but unfortunately the water system is not up to filling it! We understand that the rooms are to undergo a full redesign and refurbishment and if Polly's description is anything to go by will be lovely when this is complete.

Food was excellent (particularly some fantastic beef fillet) and service impeccable." See all these reviews: 8n in Zambia

"Luangwa River Camp Review"

2 nights Arrived 1 Oct 2013
"After a long journey from Hong Kong, I was warmly welcomed by Polly and her team at LRC. I was the only guest during my stay and I was treated like a rock star.

My intrepid guide Sebastian bent over backwards to accommodate my questions and preferences. My room was spacious luxurious and cosy. The food was excellent and carefully prepared -- the morning porridge was a great touch. All in all, a phenomenal way to start my Luangwa adventure." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia
