"2nd stop"

2 nights Arrived 25 Sep 2008
"An independent lodge just the other side of the river from the park. Great to drive through the river and reach the park in less than 5mins. Very nice set up with beautiful chalets looking onto the river. Again 2 nights here seemed about right.

James, the guide, was very good and knowledgeable and made it a very enjoyable experience. The lodge is very smart and we were well looked after although it lacked a little of the atmosphere of the other places we stayed." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Luangwa River Lodge review"

4 nights Arrived 13 Sep 2008
"We were so impressed with the whole place and we were delighted everything that we were shown on the game drives and the accommodation was perfect.

We were warmly welcomed by Brian and Tracey and quite understand why you decided that this was a suitable lodge to send us to stay.

The surprise Bush Dinner was fantastic and the trouble that all the staff took to look after us was exceptional. In fact I wouldn't hesitate to go back there for another visit.

James was our guide and was very knowledgeable and not only that was excellent company and a perfect host for our game drives.

The only comment that I would make was that there was a problem in reaching the camp and as the water in the river was low we had to be punted across the rived and then walk over the sand bank for about 500 yards to reach the lodge. This could be a problem for some guests, but did not cause us any problems.

It is a general complaint of our trip that we were unable to find any post cards to send home. I understand that most lodges do not stock post cards and I feel that this is a shame and most guests do like to send cards home, whilst on holiday.

In summary this was a perfect location in every way." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"Excellent safari at Luangwa River Lodge"

3 nights Arrived 9 Sep 2007
"In summary, the service, guiding, room and food at Luangwa River Lodge were all excellent.

Although outside the park, the lodge is just across the river (you drive or boat across) and we were usually one of the first in that area of the park. Guiding was excellent and meals were flexible enough that we could stay out if we had found something of interest.

Efficient meet and greet at Mfuwe airport.
Sean explained how everything operated at the lodge as well as explaining everything in our room
The rooms are beautiful, well appointed and comfortable.
Toiletries, insect repellent, insect killer, hairdryer are provided
Good supply of hot water
The toilet feels a little 'public' as it was quite close to the bed in our room
Although there are lot of vehicles in this part of the park, our guide was excellent and we spent most of the time away from other cars
Well organised sundowners with substantial snacks
Excellent guiding – one guide for the whole of our stay who got to know us and our interests
Suggest that the lodge explains rules of game viewing to new safari goers (ie no mobile phones to be used during game drives!)
Bushwalks available although we didn't participate as our stay was too short
Security was very good, watchmen were always available to take us to and from our room when elephants were in camp. We did not have to wait.
Food and service was excellent and the lodge catered well for a vegetarian.
Efficient and flexible transfer to the next lodge." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia
