"Good overnight stay"

1 night Arrived 22 Oct 2018
"Very nice people.

We stayed just one night and arrived late due to flight delays and thus late pick-up of hire car so only meal was breakfast. Arrived in the dark and very difficult to find Galton House despite being in the correct street as unable to see any prominent sign to indicate its location.

Easy to get to from the airport." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"Good dropping off point"

1 night Arrived 14 Oct 2018
"We stayed at this guest house on two occasions. One night on arrival in Namibia and one night before we left. All the staff were friendly and helpful and they booked Joe’s Beerhouse for us and arrange a taxi to take and bring us back. The first room we stayed in was near the parking area and the second near the pool. The rooms we stayed in were quiet, clean, light and spacious. Galton House is in a very quiet residential area and it felt very safe, especially with the locked gate. We were however told not to walk around after dark, hence the taxi to Joe’s.

Breakfast was good with a choice of ordered cooked or continental buffet. We didn’t eat at Galton in the evening so we cannot comment on that but the breakfast was good. There are a couple of supermarkets and liquor stores about 5 minutes away, where you can pick up everything you might need for your trip. However you can always find places to stop off for a drink and something to eat, wherever you are going. I would still advise getting some water to keep in the car, more in case of breakdown than anything else. I used the pool, be warned it is unheated, like most pools in Namibia but nice and refreshing if it is a hot day. We also used the honesty bar, which was good value for money. The wifi is good, although you need to keep reactivating it with a new code every 2 hours.

We went into the centre of Windhoek by taxi on the Sunday when we got back to Galton. I don’t think there would be any benefit staying in the centre as the area where Galton is much quieter and is easily accessible to the main roads, whether you are travelling north or south. I would recommend Galton House as a stopping off place." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Beautifully designed guesthouse"

1 night Arrived 1 Oct 2018
"While the fabric of this guest house is lovely, we did not enjoy the stay as much as the other guesthouse we stayed at in Windhoek.

We felt that the service was pleasant enough but a bit indifferent, and slightly chaotic compared with other places. The lock on our door was “faulty” and when we comments that we had difficulty getting in, locking it, and getting out in the morning, we just had the advice to wiggle the key a bit.

The breakfast was very average.

While it was a lovely house, if I was ever to travel that way again, I’d stay elsewhere." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
