"Much better than we expected, lovely room.

Could have done with a luggage rack as we had to use the bed and the floor for this.

Excellent dinner and breakfast, both with huge portions." See all these reviews: 22n in Namibia

"Galton House review"

1 night Arrived 23 Jul 2024
"Lovely guesthouse, providing a perfect first port of call upon arrival in Windhoek.

All the staff were very friendly and willing to help. Room no.1 the pool suite was perfect for our needs with one double bed and 2 singles in the one room. Our only criticism would be that the only dinner option for guests is a 3 course set menu (sometimes with no main course choice) which we felt was more than we really needed or wanted, a lighter bite option would have been perfect. Be wary of taking the offered water at dinner as this will be charged bottle water as opposed to the freely available filtered water from the tap close to the tables.

We would happily stay here again." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

1 night Arrived 10 Jul 2024
"It was a perfectly great hotel but hard to compare it to the lodges we stayed at during the whole trip!

The staff - amazing - but the rooms felt closed in more than usual with it being a house and in the city!

Security was great and we felt safe and the food was lovely!

We would stay here again - a perfectly great above average guest house for a city and details in making us feel at home are clear and special!" See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia

"Galton House review"

1 night Arrived 23 Jun 2024
"Hotel very clean and nicely appointed. Short drive into Windhoek. The Receptionist Tamara was great, very accommodating and personable. Helped to set up a taxi to take and pick me up from the city center.

The gentleman who checked me in was brusque and made me feel unwanted and uncomfortable. They don't really accommodate vegetarians. They have a fixed meal for dinner which was meat & chicken. When he read aloud the card that read I was vegetarian/vegan he shouted it out and said well you're not eating here then you're eating out tonight! When I stated I was too tired from traveling to shower and change my clothes he said well I'll just remove the meat/chicken and give you the side dishes & appeared annoyed.

When he was showing me the kitchen he said Check-out is at 10 when you will be picked up. When I indicated my card stated I wouldn't be picked up until late afternoon he reiterated very strongly that checkout was at 10 and they were full so he wanted me picked up. When I disagreed he said you're going on an excursion then! Made me feel very uncomfortable. He had a very bad attitude the entire time I was there.

After dinner I was surprised to find earplugs and a note on my pillow explaining that due to the following day being trash pickup day it was going to be very noisy with dogs barking & hence the earplugs. It was very noisy and the earplugs didn't help very much.

The next day, however, a different receptionist Tamara was the complete opposite. When I came back from my excursion and still had a few hours to wait until my pickup the man kept passing me, ignoring me other than to look as if he were annoyed I was still there. Would not go back." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Comfortable Transition "

2 nights Arrived 18 Jun 2024
"Tamara, the manager, runs an outstanding operation and she made our transition to Namibia easier after an unexpectedly long 2 days of travel.

Tamara was so helpful in sorting out our phone issues, helping us get a sim card, and cluing us in to local customs, expectations and safety issues.

A comfortable place to recover from jet lag." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Wonderful reception from the Manager, Koenie Louw and his staff.

Nice room, great facilities and pool, super breakfast, very helpful in finding and booking restaurants etc.

Relaxed way to end our five week trip in Namibia.

Would definitely recommend for a stay in Windhoek. Who needs the Hilton ?" See all these reviews: 26n in Namibia

"Welcoming host, good room and excellent breakfast. All staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Decor was contemporary with a large lounge area with a small library and pool terrace.

Very friendly host was happy to make our reservation at Joe’s Beerhouse and book the taxi." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
