"Halali Restcamp review"
Someways, I found this restcamp more peaceful than Okaukuejo that tends to be crowded and hectic with so many visitors roaming around.
The bathroom in our room does certainly need to be updated. Found it very cramped." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Good central base"
The breakfast was fine, but after the first night we decided to self-cater our dinner, we'd already bought some supplies with us, and the shop provided the rest, some foreward planning is needed as the steaks etc are sold frozen, but with a bit of ingenuity and a swiss army knife we managed to eat quite well, after two weeks of cooked breakfasts & 3 to 5 course dinners it was nice to eat a little more frugally.
We did a morning drive and Martin our guide was a wealth of knowledge, giving us tips on where to go and when, we kept in touch with him through the rest of our stay and got information on what was about. All in all a good central base to discover Etosha." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
"Great location for animal watching"
The location of Halali, both in terms of its centrality within the park and its waterhole is what makes it so good (the large swimming pool was also a big hit with the family).
The sights and sounds of all of the wildlife at the waterhole at night (elephant, rhino, lion etc etc) will stay with us for ever and fulfilled our dream when we set out on this trip - this was why we came!
One practicality that we had misunderstood was that we had to pay the Park entrance fees whereas we had thought this charge to be included as we were staying in Halali." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia
"Halali Restcamp review"
The waterhole is smaller than at Okaukuejo and further from the camp. It was not visited by the same numbers of animals but we did see leopard and enjoyed a sunset watching a herd of 15 elephants coming to drink. The waterhole is in a more natural setting and the atmosphere is quieter. Very enjoyable, nut you have to be patient." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

However it would be beneficial if parking of vehicles on the route to the water-hole could be discouraged as it was at times intrusive and seems unnecessary." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana
"Practical, very good chalet and central"
The reception desk needs more staff - slightly disorganised but all lovely staff. Noone checked our rooms before or after arrival. We had to ask for the an extra mattress for our youngest son. No problem - it came. A feeling that they were very busy. Not very clear about gate times of shutting or opening. But we liked the lay out of the camp, and it had a very nice feel to it, safe, clean and everyone walking about happily and rather like a piazza atmposphere at times.
Good shop although needed to stock up on foodstuff as nothing for picnics really or it had sold out by 9am.
Good to have some night drives on offer here.
Great big pool for swimming. Underused. Overall, good atmosphere of campers, and chalet dwellers all mucking in and obviously far more in the real world than at the lodges where we had been totally spoilt! Waterhole came up trumps second night when we saw rhino family. Might be good to erect a big sign asking people to stop talking when they start walking up to the waterhole on the path. Often noisy chitter chatter going on." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia
"Good place from which to explore Etosha"
We drove ourselves and found lots to see. The advantage is you can stop at any point for s long as you like" See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana
"Halali Restcamp review"
The food at Halali was dire - so much so that we avoided eating in it after the first dinner. The meat was tough, there were no vegetables with the main course, there was little choice or variety, the service was perfunctory. The coffee was cold or ran out altogether. To charge the equivalent of ten or eleven pounds for a three-course meal that was virtually inedible was quite indefensible.
In hindsight, we should have booked Namatoni instead of Halali - partly because the eastern end of the park has some quite distinct ecosystems and partly because, when we stopped briefly at the restcamp at Namatoni, it looked as though it had better facilities than Halali. Also, we saw virtually no game at Halali waterhole - probably just unlucky there, however.
At both Halali and Okokuejo, the shops were quite poorly-stocked, despite the large number of campers and self-caterers." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia
