An unforgetable holiday - we saw everything
Namibia and 1 other country between 24 Jul 2008 and 14 Aug 2008
We would go back to Botswana tomorrow - The Lagoon lodge was a fantastic experience.
Despite my reservations about the car it did not let us down after the puncture episode and was quiet and comfortable to ride in

Feedback response
Judging by the pictures that these travellers took - they saw some great game on their trip (including wild dogs) - and they have a particular interest in Namibia's smaller creatures!

We went for a walk on the marked trail and got lost!! as the marked trail suddenly disappears. You cannot get far though as the lodge is completely fenced in. Not very good for birds or animals.
I would only use this as a stopover. The road noise is a real problem as it seems to be busy (as Namibia ever gets) all night."

Ndhovu Safari Lodge

We slept in the floating tent! This is an experience not to be forgotten in a hurry as a Hippo got very close to us in the middle of the night, grunts, snorts, splashes and the sound of a branch cracking at 2:30 a.m. seem incredibly loud. in the morning there was no sign of our close encounter but it did get the heart racing.
The proximity to Mahango park means limited driving before you can get good game viewing on your own. We like a mixture of doing our own thing and guided drives."
Lagoon Camp
"Totally awesome experience from dawn to dusk"
A pack of wild dogs where the adults came back from a kill to feed 12 six week old pups!!!
A lioness with 4 cubs attack and fight off a 4 year old male lion!!
The same lioness killed a baby buffalo separated from its mother!!!
A herd of circa500 buffalo surrounded us.
We would unreservedly recommend this to anyone"
Lianshulu Lodge
"Excellent drives, service, accom. and food"
In retrospect it was more like a rest after the non-stop excitement in Botswana. I think we stayed a day too long.
Although you can go on the river, frankly river cruises can be boring when you see the same things repeatedly. This is subjective because we appreciate the lots of people are seeing them for the first time.
Our drives were however very good indeed - one morning saw us ticking the most species of bird and animal seen in a single outing! And we found the largest spider I have ever seen!!! (A real highlight for Tony that one)
Service food and room were excellent."

"Only good for a stopover"
The activities are not included and seemed expensive to us.
We were put in a room that had not been properly cleaned or provisioned properly. Like you point out in your info sent to us before the trip check the inventory. I did this and found a lot missing. This was pointed out in reception and we were then rehoused (unfortunately after unpacking) into a much better room.
But we think the brochure stretches the truth. We would seriously question the "birdwatchers paradise" part - unless you like Cape Turtle Doves.
Food was average and many items on the menu were missing. On the second evening our order was completely messed up and the bill included an item we did not have as the kitchen had run out."

Namutoni Camp
"Namutoni Restcamp review"
Site is spread out and parking not possible near to your room. Plus side is you have to walk and that was unusual on this holiday
The water hole is the least attractive of the 3 in Etosha"
Halali Camp
"Good place from which to explore Etosha"
We drove ourselves and found lots to see. The advantage is you can stop at any point for s long as you like"
Okaukuejo Camp
"Okakuejo has the best water hole in Etosha"
We lost count of however many Elephants we saw as well as 6 Rhinos and a Hyena in one short evening"
Okonjima Plains Camp
"A brilliant cat experience"
We went Cheetah tracking on foot. Leopard tracking by vehicle.
Every day was a new experience
We are slightly concerned that by adding more accomodation Okonjima is going to become less friendly which would be a great pity."
Sun Karros Daan Viljoen
"DV is being changed into a health spa resort"
We were told that it has now been leased to a Health Spa company and that we were amongst the last people to visit
Birdwatching was good here and with no predators its safe to walk anywhere"
The walk we had on the morning of the day we left was not tailored to our (mainly birdwatching) needs as one of the guides who could have come with us was on transfer duty. So we were with people who mainly just wanted a walk. Our guide did his best as he was a birder so it turned out not too bad"
