"Rra Dinare review"
Great tracking of our guides and thus wonderful animal sightings.
No walking safaris possible in Mma and Rra Dinare due to rifle problems (from what we heard due to incorrectly used ammunition which is not very reassuring)." See all these reviews: 9n in Botswana
"Rra Dinare review"
We choose to relax at camp rather than do on an immediate drive so did not meet our guide Rasta until the evening meal. He and tracker Owner were knowledgeable and great company over next two days. The camp itself was comfortable, traditional in style of a safari camp, food was good and staff were always ready to help. We had good sightings of Lions Cheetah Giraffe and Elephants as well as many antelope." See all these reviews: 7n in Botswana
"Rra Dinare review"
My guide was Rasta and spotter was Boxer, both were excellent. I shared a vehicle with a couple on the first day and then there was just me. I had number of lion sights both during the day and after dark. we followed a male lion for some time after dark and saw it pass through the sister camp Ma Dinare.
I was pleased to have a sighting of the not so common antelope such as Roan and Eland. Had a fantastic siting of leopard cub up a tree with the mother standing on guard below as there were lions nearby. I saw a pride of lions feasting on a recent elephant kill at night where the male lion wouldn't let the female lions onto the kill until the cubs had had their fill. On the last morning we started to follow some Cheetah tracks and I was please to have a sighting of two young male cheetahs. Sadly I did not see any wild dog at this camp.
The service given by the staff in the camp was excellent and the extra security required at night to safeguard clients was required. There are raised walkways to get to the chalets from the central area. At night your guide accompanied you to your tent but there are breaks in walkways with paths crossing at ground level to allow animals to pass through the camp. A couple of times there were buffalo at the crossings and the guide had to encourage the buffalo to move on to make the path safe to get to my tent.
During my stay the day time temperatures reached between 35C and 40C but there was no rain." See all these reviews: 10n in Botswana
"Rra Dinare review"
The view from the raised deck was breathtaking - a verdant flood plain teeming with animals. For most of the time we were there, we were the only guests at Rra Dinare. We enjoyed the company of Lex, and his staff, and the food was of a similar high quality to the other Kwando camps we visited.
Our room (#5) was excellent - a large tent overlooking the flood plain and a huge number and variety of animals and birds to watch.
The game drives were superb, with multiple sightings of a large (32 animals) Wild Dog pack, including them hunting an Impala very close to the camp. They then brought down a Kudu right in front of the camp's viewing platform. A large group of mongooses - Rasta estimated about 40 animals - moving as one big animal was enough to deter Wild Dogs from attacking.
Cheetah, Lions, Leopards were all seen multiple times - including two (unsuccessful) lion hunts and 3 Cheetah brothers gorging on a Kudu. We enjoyed watching a new born baby elephant learning how to use his trunk to drink (and giving up and immersing his head in the water instead!). There was also a huge variety of birdlife - Secretary birds, Goliath Heron, Osprey, Scops Owl and Kori Bustard to name just a few.
Temperatures were high throughout our stay, at about 38-40C, but it was a dry heat with a breeze so it was fine." See all these reviews: 10n in Botswana; 1n in South Africa
"WOW - so many memorable experiences!"
"Rra Dinare review"
Guides were average in terms of proactivity and insights. Night drive was a bit disappointing as the game drive vehicles do not have a spotter seat out front, which is limiting. Camp management were in general excellent though." See all these reviews: 7n in Botswana
