Rra Dinare: Our full report
Nestled in a 272km² concession that shares a border with the Moremi Game reserve, Rra Dinare promises excellent ...
... wildlife-watching opportunities. The camp has been designed to embrace the natural surroundings making the most of its views over the Gomoti River and its flood plains.Rra Dinare shares this private concession, in the southern region of the Okavango Delta, with its sister camp Mma Dinare.
Run in partnership with the local Sanyuko community and situated just 3 km from its sister property, it overlooks the Gomoti River floodplains.
The camp has nine tented suites, spaced out along the edges of the floodplain, all with stunning views. The tents are wooden framed with canvas walls and sliding wooden doors that open to panoramic views of the floodplains. Inside each tent, you’ll find a snug lounge area with comfy chairs and a coffee table, separated by sliding doors from the bedroom. Each tent has either a king-size or twin beds draped in mosquito nets and, for those visiting during the warmer months, ceiling fans offer welcome relief from the heat.
The family tent at Rra Dinare is perfect for families with children, featuring an additional bedroom that’s connected by a short corridor. This second room is slightly smaller, and it has no direct outdoor access, making it an ideal space for younger guests.
At the back of each tent, an en suite bathroom has twin basins, with beautifully painted designs by local artists, a large free-standing bath, toilet, and an outdoor shower.
Each tent has a private deck to the front, perfect for enjoying the peaceful views of the floodplains and any animals wandering past.
Entering Rra Dinare is via a long wooden walkway, and the camp’s main area is connected to the tent via raised walkways, allowing wildlife to roam freely underneath.
Built around a large marula tree, and split into several open-air sections, the main area includes a large communal dining area where buffet meals are served, and a lower-level lounge and viewing deck, complete with a self-service bar and a small curio shop stocked with local crafts and souvenirs.
For relaxation, guests can enjoy a dip in the camp’s small swimming pool or gather around the firepit deck for drinks before dinner. Breakfast is often served by the fire before guests head out on early-morning game drives or other activities.
Activities from Rra Dinare include guided game drives and nature walks, with night drives also possible as this is a private reserve. Mokoro (traditional canoe) trips are seasonally dependent on water levels, which tend to be at their lowest in November and December.
As with its sister camps, the team at Rra Dinare are fairly unique in that they utilise both a guide and tracker on game drives, allowing them to actively track predators, generally with great success.
For those seeking even more adventure, scenic helicopter flights over the Delta can be arranged at an additional cost, offering a bird’s-eye view of one of the world’s most incredible ecosystems.

- We would suggest a stay of three nights at Rra Dinare.
It works well in combination with its sister camps Kwara Camp or Splash Camp, or Lagoon Camp or Lebala Camp in northern Botswana's Linyanti region within the extensive Kwando Reserve; and Nxai Pan and Tau Pan in the drier reaches of the Kalahari to the south. - Directions

- Food quality
- While we didn’t have the chance to stay overnight during our last stay in April 2024, we enjoyed meals at its sister camp, Mma Dinare, and we would expect the food at Rra Dinare to be of a similar standard.
Breakfast is a continental-style buffet, served early morning before the first activity. This will include toast, boiled eggs, cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit, with baked muffins or pastries, along with fruit juices, tea and coffee.
Brunch is served when guests return from the morning activity, and afternoon tea is served around 4:00pm after the day’s siesta, before you head out on the afternoon game activity, and usually includes a savoury snack and freshly baked cake or biscuits.
After your second activity of the day, there is usually a little time to freshen up before a three-course dinner.

- Given the expense of a private vehicle, and the age restrictions on certain activities we’d generally recommend Rra Dinare for families with children aged 12 and over.
