"Karangoma review"
The camp was very quiet and for two out of the four nights we were there we were alone and we were thoroughly spoilt. It feels like staying with friends not in a normal camp. There is no airstrip (at the time of writing this) and we were flown in by helicopter which was thrilling and made the whole experience very special for my teenagers!
The camp is extremely new, smart, exquisitely designed with all the latest mod cons and fittings and very chic and high end design. The staff were very efficient and charming, all bending over back wards to meet our every need. The food was very impressive and well presented.
Our two guides were fantastic, always informative and knowledgeable but also totally in control of the safari, knowing where to go, tracking lion, speeding to follow lion and cheetah for us to ensure the best possible experience. We enjoyed long morning and afternoon drives, sunset drinks every day, dawn tea, bush lunch where we swam in the Okavango river, had a barbecue lunch set up by the river, went on mekoro trips and did a walking safari too.
Temperatures were over 40 degrees everyday at the end of the hot season which was very difficult for a pale blond family from the UK and both my teenage sons struggled in the middle of the day in the camp and one had heat stroke I’m sure, but that was no one’s fault and the staff were very helpful and accommodated a more gentle pace when we asked for it. The pool (overlooking a watering hole) proved indispensable for cooling off!
We saw monkeys and elephant and even lion from the camp which was great fun. A highlight were the sunsets over natural pools filled with water lilies and hippos and our guide giving my son photography lessons! Also, seeing a leopard only a few metres away severval times was a privilege.
It feels like a dream now I’m home and it was unforgettable, I highly recommend this camp." See all these reviews: 7n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe
