My Sep 2024 trip
Namibia between 21 Sep 2024 and 8 Oct 2024
As ever Expert Africa went above and beyond.
Anderssons was the highlight but other lodges were great too.
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge

Fish River Lodge
"Fish River Lodge review"
Our one concern was that the organisation in the kitchen/dining room on our first evening was poor. We and others were left waiting ages for food. I complained and it improved.
Perhaps some feedback to the lodge would be appropriate."
Fish River Canyon day trip
"Fish River Canyon day trip review"
23 Sep 2024 • All-day excursion
We got a walk in the middle which was lovely and then continued to the bottom of the canyon for a swim in the river followed by a braii.
A fantastic trip and I would say an absolute must.
Kalahari Farmhouse
"Kalahari Farmhouse review"
Very relaxed atmosphere but I would not say it is luxurious.
A good place for a one night stopover but not any more, in my opinion."
Okonjima Bush Camp
"Okonjima Bush Camp review"
Great location and the lodge is top notch.
Service is superb and really friendly and attentive without being oppressive."
Safarihoek Lodge
"Safarihoek Lodge review"
We were supposed to be in a luxury chalet and I am pretty sure on reflection that we were not. We were meeting up with the Hickmans here and they were all the other side of the main building and all had more facilities like outdoor showers and decks that we did not have. I only realised this after. If we were not given what we paid for then I think there should be a refund. I do not want the money but would donate it to a suitable charity such as Africat.
We only had one pillow each and when I got others down off the top of the wardrobes they were filthy, covered in dust, showing the cleaning was not done properly. To cap that they were then taken away for the next night and we had to go to reception to get some more.
On top of that the light outside our room at floor level was flickering and so we had to cover it with the cushions from the outside seats. The light was "mended" ( Disconnected) the next day, but they took the cushions away meaning that we had to go and ask for them back.
There were no plugs for the bathroom sink and when I asked the manager said they didn't have any and were waiting for some!!!
It is a shame becasue it could be top notch but poor housekeeping and quite frankly management let it down."
We regret that a miscommunication between Safarihoek and Expert Africa led to an expectation of a different room type, though the correct room type was charged. Safarihoek has taken this opportunity to improve their reservation practices for greater clarity, and Expert Africa will ensure closer cross-checking. We apologise for the confusion this caused.
Safarihoek has also apologised for the maintenance and housekeeping issues. Their teams have addressed the specific concerns, including cleanliness and maintenance response, to avoid similar issues in the future. They regret any inconvenience related to the outdoor cushions, pillows, and flickering light.
They have added that guest satisfaction and comfort are their top priorities, and they appreciate the opportunity to improve.
Andersson's at Ongava
"Andersson's at Ongava review"
The position is great, the set up superb, excellent food and some of the best staff I have ever had the pleasure of being "served" by. Summed up by the fact that they knew all of our names within a very short time of arrival.
It is an absolute must."
Onguma The Fort
"Onguma The Fort review"
Quirky place but none the worse for it.
Fabulous service by all the staff. Good drives and lovely location.
Very relaxing atmosphere"
Ondudu Safari Lodge
"Ondudu Safari Lodge review"
It is lovely in a very different location in the hills with magnificent hills and boulders all around. We did a sunrise walk which was great. The guide was excellent,
sundowner drive too.
Not the place to go to see lots of wildlife but to see magnificent hills and scenery.
There are also cave paintings which we went to last time.
Excellent food and service."
Olive Grove
"Olive Grove review"
Great service and comfortable rather than uber luxurious rooms.
The service is really good as is the food."

Ilala Lodge
"Ilala Lodge review"
It was an easy walk to the falls."
Muchenje Safari Lodge
"Muchenje Safari Lodge review"
Great guide.
Be prepared for the fact that a visit here is fairly full on if you want to do all of the activities, mainly because it is about 1hours drive to the place where you can go on the boat trips.
This in no way impacted on our enjoyment of the visit, but some might find it a lot to fit in."
Hyena Pan
"Hyena Pan review"
Lovely game drives with a fabulous guide, KB, driving through the bush to track lion.
We were treated to a party on Botswana Day which was fabulous."
Rra Dinare
"Rra Dinare Camp review"
The staff treated us like royalty. There was nothing too much for them.
They were extremely helpful and friendly.
A wonderful experience and atmosphere."
Camp Kalahari
"Camp Kalahari review"
The scenery was completely different to the others, but wonderful.
Walking with meerkats was fantastic as was the bushman walk and the quad biking experience on our final evening is something that should not be missed.
The staff were really helpful, extremely friendly and in some ways it was a more laid back atmosphere than the other camps"
We had a fabulous room. The food was really good and excellent service.
We did a morning drive before we left and that was great"
