"Cats cats cats - and an aardwolf - at Namiri"
Staff at Namiri were uniformally excellent and the food good. The spacious tents look down to the river and the camp has a feel of quiet isolation. Although we saw a few other jeeps from other camps, they were on the limit of their range and many sightings were exclusive. It gets windy on the Serengeti so when it's dry the dust whips up. Be prepared. Special mention to manager Epimark for looking after us and to guide Kivuyo whose eyes are like binoculars and we later found out was Asilia's Guide of the Year 2016." Now on to the the amazing staff. First let me say that I am a new fan of Asilia. They are conscientious, inclusive, environmentally and socially aware; they walk the talk. Diana Shambi, assistant camp manager, was working during our stay. This young woman is a queen and made sure that the 3 of us had everything, including pink hot water bottles!!!
My new saying for Namiri is "If you come to a camp being managed by a queen, you will be treated like a queen." And that's the truth. Erasto Macha was our guide during the 4 day stay and his knowledge, expertise, sense of humor and patience made this trip unforgettable. Thank you Erasto. I haven't even gotten to the animals yet!!
Cats, cats, cats everywhere. This site is exceptional both in its beauty and in the density of wildlife. I will out definitely return to Namari.
James Denny of Expert Africa suggested this camp and he was spot on. It became the heart of the trip for me. Thank you everyone." See all these reviews: 9n in Tanzania
"Unbeleivable !!"
It has an indelible place in my heart, not just for the nightly roar of the lions, the amazing staff and gourmet food under a starry African sky, or the hot water bottle in my bed at night, the outdoor shower or a tray of coffee at 3,30am one morning but so much more than that.
I will return, and thank you to all the staff there. This was the supreme section of my trip.

"Desolate and wild - loved it"
We flew into Seronera airstrip and we were met by our camp guide Emmanuel in an open sided Toyota Land Cruiser. We had lunch at the airstrip while Emmanuel sorted out the paperwork for entry into the park.
The camp is about an hour and a half from the airstrip so we extended the ride to about 3 hours and did our first game drive. It was very eventful. As well as the usual zebra and wildebeest we saw our first cheetah, a lion kill (young buffalo) and lions mating, a great start!
On arrival at camp we were greeted by Diana the camp manager. The camp is very remote and definitely had a wild feel. All the staff at the camp were very friendly and gave excellent service.
Our tent was large with a really comfortable bed and had great views of the wilderness. There was a flush toilet and both an indoor and an outdoor shower. Amazing having a late afternoon shower and watching the elephants stroll by.
Before dinner it was drinks around the camp fire. One evening we had drinks in the lounge whilst we were given an interesting talk by Dennis from the Cheetah Conservancy project. Dinner was taken in a large mess tent with plenty of chat about the day’s viewings or Donald v Hilary. The food was excellent although there was no choice.
At night you could hear the lions roaring in the distance and other wildlife making the calls. One evening we had two male elephants walking within a few yards of our tent looking for the tastiest grass.
On our first day we did morning and afternoon game drives with a great lunch between. The landscape is very bleak with wide area of dry, brown savannah and rocky outcrops (kopjes). We saw cheetah (mother and two cubs) and lion (three squabbling over a warthog kill) along with elephant, hyrax, hyaena, Grant’s gazelle, ostrich, topi and steinbok.
Our guide, Emmanuel, thought we would get better game viewing if we travelled further north where the rains had started so the following day we did an all day safari taking a packed lunch with us. Well, we had a great day, we had 3 cheetah sightings plus leopard, numerous lions, jackal, dik dik, ostrich dancing and mating, hippo, zebra, wildebeest, monitor lizard, eland, hyaena, giraffe, buffalo, warthog and many birds. On the journey back to the airstrip on our last day we passed two lions lazing in the road and had a further two cheetah sightings.
Emmanuel was a great guide, he was knowledgeable and went the extra mile to give us great game viewing.
This is a great place to see cheetah and lion particularly, but lots of other game as well. We really enjoyed the vibe of Namiri Plains, an excellent camp." See all these reviews: 13n in Tanzania
"Namiri Plains Camp review"
There was a large party in the camp who did not all seem very interested in the safari experience and played some loud music one night. They had their own vehicle so this worked hugely to our advantage as we had our own vehicle with the head guide and his trainee who were excellent. We had dinner on our own with the head guide on our last night who was fantastic company." See all these reviews: 7n in Zanzibar; 5n in Tanzania
"Namiri Plains Camp review"
The location was amazing looking out over a marsh. Lions very close by and even came through the camp one night. The hospitality at the camp was second to none.
Only downside was severe wind at night, shaking the tent. Kept us awake more than the wildlife.
Again 2 nights was only just enough and another would have been perfect." See all these reviews: 8n in Tanzania
"Namiri Plains Camp review"
We had five lions take down a buffalo about 200 meters from our tent and heard them roaring for two nights while they ate it. The spotting of cats was better by one guide than the other. They need more roads to get access to the animals.
The food here was exceptional." See all these reviews: 8n in Tanzania

You wouldn't realise how much life there is until your amazing guide points out the animals! Yes, the guiding is brilliant! My guide Erasto is a super guide. One of the best guides I have been guided by.
The place is really wild. We saw different Cheetahs with cubs every day in my 4 day stay. Saw Cheetah kill successfully once and one unsuccessful cheetah hunt.
Saw huge numbers of lions everyday and lion cubs. There were lions in every area we went to - lions mating, hunting, sleeping, etc. On my last night there 5 lion brothers killed a buffalo right near my tent. They were roaring and growling/arguing all night. It was amazing.
As with all Asilia camps the staff are amazing and go out of their way to look after you. Food was brilliant and so are the tents. The location of the camp is very good as it is far away from the busy part. So quite exclusive.
I loved every minute of my stay there and will definitely be returning soon!" See all these reviews: 5n in Rwanda; 4n in Tanzania
"Beautifully furnished tented camp"
Hamza, our guide was excellent at spotting the game, and extremely knowledgeable of not just the animals, but of the geology of the area too. Evening meals were taken at a large table, and we liked the fact that the guides ate dinner with the guests, it made for an interesting and lively mealtime.
An exclusive area of the otherwise crowded Serengeti, with lots of animals (especially Cheetah)." See all these reviews: 12n in Tanzania; 5n in Rwanda
