"Great place to relax but...."

3 nights Arrived 14 Sep 2010
"This was a very good place to relax after some hectic days in Etosha. The standard of accommodation was very high and the food excellent. Although the brochure stated communal eating this was not the case - we had indivdual tables.

The waiting staff were very good indeed ... however we understand the camp managers have only been at the camp for six months and we're not sure exactly how at ease they feel in the job.

The private game reserve was truly poor - perhaps we'd been spoilt by Ongava/Etosha. We had a good guide who normally worked at a first rate private reserve in South Africa, and although he put on a brave face it was obvious that he was a bit embarrassed.

Overall we felt this was a people oriented rather than a wildlife oriented place." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Big 4 seen in less than an hour/gourmet meals"

2 nights Arrived 24 Aug 2010
"All-in this is a tie with Wolwedens as best of class....

Excellent wine cellar complimented an eclectic and very romantic dining area (totally open air and full view of a 24-hour lighted waterhole). Food was stellar for all meals.

Rooms had both indoor, outdoor showers and tub.... with an endless supply of hot water. Front decks opened to a full view of the waterhole. The pool/lounging area was very elegant.

Guide (Previous) was super friendly and put us on stellar wildlife in the morning and a great "nature" oriented drive with sundowner in the evening. Having Etosha relatively close by was a big plus. Attention to detail was impressive, including lit candles in the room after dinner, a hot water bottle in the jeep along with blankets for the early morning drive to Etosha and an excellent curio collection" See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Great safaris at Onguma Tented Camp"

2 nights Arrived 20 Jun 2010
"Another great location just outside the Etosha park and really comfortable accommodation. Plenty of space and a great deck looking directly over the waterhole. Another location where hot water bottles were provided, not only in the beds but on the game drives too, very welcome.

Service was impeccable and the delicious food only marred by rather tough oryx on our last night.

The trip into Etosha was outstanding. The highlight was watching a herd of 70 elephants marching in stately and orderly fashion to a waterhole where they peacefully drank all together; we watched in amazement. Thank you to our guide Charles." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Safari-luxe at Onguma Tented Camp"

2 nights Arrived 4 Oct 2009
"We loved this place, it was pure luxury in the bush. There was only one other small group staying when we were there, so we had a marvellous day hanging out by the infinity pool reading our books and watching the animals wander down to the waterhole.

The rooms are pure luxury - and contain everything you could need. Somehow the 'design' features in the safari tent just work and the overall aesthetic is beautiful. We loved the bathtub and outdoor shower.

We did one sundowner drive with a private guide and saw lions, although the game is much more timid here and not used to people or cars.

This is a really nice place to spend a few nights after doing self-drive in the park - the staff really look after you, always anticipating what you might need. The food was extremely good.

We'd go back and would highly recommend it." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Onguma Tented Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 29 Jun 2009
"We were well taken care of at the Onguma Tented Camp, going on wonderful game drives and enjoying luxury accommodations. David and Sandra made sure everything went well for us throughout our stay. They went above and beyond assisting us with a flat tire. While the tire couldn't be fixed the mechanic repaired the rim and contacted a tire shop in Tsumeb for us which we visited after we left to pick up a new tire.

Moses was a very knowledgeable guide and gave additional information about animal behavior which we appreciated. The kitchen staff did a wonderful job accommodating our vegetarian meal request. All the food was excellent and the presentation of the food made for outstanding dining experiences. When not on game drives we enjoyed the accommodations completely.

The setting for Onguma Tented Camp was extremely relaxing and the addition of the waterhole was neat. There is nothing like returning from a game drive to find zebra, gemsbok, etc...hanging out at the waterhole right outside the tent! Last but not least - Marcus and Thomas were GREAT as well and we'll always remember their fantastic smiles!" See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana

"Onguma Tented Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 10 Nov 2008
"A very intimate camp with a truly five star feel. The staff from the management down were all charming and helpful.

The decor in the tents was stunning, and it was nice to have the choice of game viewing in Etosha or on the private reserve where Onguma is situated.

The intimacy makes this camp stand out." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Although arrived there quite late and the drive from the gate to the tented camp was quite long the welcome we received was lovely.
