"It’s not the first time we have visited Mfuwe Lodge and the bush camps, and will not be our last! As always, all the staff were efficient and friendly, and the guiding was exceptional. It was great to see that people living and working in that environment all the time are still so passionate about the wildlife around them. The available activities of game drives and walks in the bush camps was a good combination.

With all wildlife you can never guarantee what you will see, and it is very much dependent on time of year and weather conditions. Overall, we had an abundant and excellent wildlife experience to make for a really great safari, and one we will never forget! In particular the numerous sightings of leopard, a tiny lion cub being carried out of the bush by its mother, and a pack of 31 wild dogs! I could go on, but there is too much to mention!!

This trip was a long time coming – originally booked pre-pandemic for travel in November 2022 – it was so good to get back to the bush!

We would like to thank both Expert Africa and The Bushcamp Company for happily deferring our trip not just once, but twice, through the pandemic, and the changes to the itineraries it involved. And also, to Chris from Expert Africa, for taking time out to reply to me whilst he was on holiday, to reassure us everything was covered should another outbreak/variant occur. "This trip, like those of many others, was originally booked for 2020 and then postponed again in 2021. This time it was brought forward by a few days and a couple of nights added at the start to take advantage of Emirates pricing. All arrangements went smoothly.

As a first trip to Zambia we chose to visit three national parks (Kafue/ South Luangwa/Lower Zambezi) and were glad we did as they were very different, as were the camps selected. We were a little disappointed by the variety of birds seen and fewer than expected leopards in their supposed hot spot of South Luangwa.

There were film crews in South Luangwa and Kafue throughout our stays which, on occasions, inhibited our access and positioning at sightings. This was a VERY expensive trip and we did not expect our experience to be limited by them taking priority!

However, overall we had a terrific time with plentiful sightings and photos to prove it.

"The trip, to quote Frances "exceeded expectations".

We almost never return to the same location for a holiday, but these two camps (which we visited in 2014) buck this trend due to their great guiding and wildlife experiences.

"You gave us useful advice on choice of accommodation in Lusaka - Pioneer Camp is a good way to get over the journey and be in a bush camp environment on first night. Nkwali was also your good suggestion to us, a lovely place to stay in, and quite a short trip from the airport, as well as putting us into the park early and easily each day.

Good to have 3 camps in different areas of the park. At 76, our 11 nights/12 days was probably slightly longer than we would do next time, if we can afford to go again and are fit enough.

All the transfers/meet and greet etc worked perfectly (as they have on all our previous 5 Expert Africa trips) - thanks.

All the staff in the camps are both very professional, and approachable and friendly, as well as flexible on various occasions.

Good to see game numbers so obviously healthy, with lots of young in evidence.

Good to hear on the ground that the suggestion of clients like us paying some extra deposit money to help the camps through covid really did help - it reached local people. Also, from Tafika we heard that rather than covid leading to more poaching, it made locals appreciate just how camps are so beneficial to the local community and economy." "A wonderful trip including returns to old favourite camps and exciting newcomers. Remote Africa Safaris, as ever, did not disappoint and their new camp Takwela is a great addition to their circuit.

Despite many trips to Luangwa this was only my second visit to Lower Zambezi, and I was quite blown away by the density of wildlife and the beautiful scenery. The atmospheric Winterthorn forests make a stunning backdrop for photography.

"We had the most the most wonderful trip, far exceeding our expectations and leaving us keen to return.

As always Expert Africa's excellent website meant we were able to plenty of research ahead of talking to Claire who then ensured everything ran smoothly and with the least discomfort. A big thank you to her for suggesting our stay at Pioneer Camp at the start and organising for us to spend the afternoon at the Ciela Resort instead of the airport on our way home.

"This was one of our best ever holidays and we are so glad we were persuaded to go, having waited 2 deferred years and still had a few doubts about covid. In the event, everything was completely back to normal and we had a fantastic time.

The itinerary Claire put together could not be faulted, combining South Luangwa (which we previously visited in 2013) with Malawi, a new country for us. All the transfers between lodges worked like clockwork, and we would particularly single out Sidney for praise, who was our driver/guide in Malawi, and gave us lots of useful information about life in Malawi as we drove through villages and he also took us on a hike on the Zomba plateau).
