"The entire trip went smoothly including linking with our independently booked international flights through Expert Africa’s local ground agents, who were punctual and excellent in undertaking the transfers between the airport and hotel in Lusaka.

This was a return to the two Shenton Safaris camps after an interval of 5 years. Expert Africa showed great patience with our repeated rebookings and amendments after our initial booking in December 2019. No sign of any effect of Covid at the camps or at our hotel or at the airports in Zambia. Excellent camps and guides and good companionship amongst staff and guests. It was lovely to be back.

The game experience was wonderful, with plentiful sightings of big cats, ellies and other favourites, excellent friendly, small camps in an area where we only saw two other camps’ game drive vehicles. Part of this area of South Luangwa’s appeal is high density wildlife and low density visitors. A great experience and many highlights and happy memories." "Our trip to Zambia was absolutely amazing in every way.

It was lovely to enjoy a break away, knowing that we were bringing much needed income back into the parts of the country where families are reliant on tourism.

The camp staff were all so welcoming and the wildlife sightings were exceptional.

We would thoroughly recommend Zambia as a destination for first time safari-goers as well as old hands. Just GO!

Lucy did the most incredible job to put together our itinerary and to adapt it as necessary due to the Covid postponements.

"Zambia is one of our favourite safari destinations and we wanted to return to Old Mondora and the Lower Zambezi. On prior trips we had visited both the North and South Luangwa Valley so we decided to visit Kafue.

Overall, we enjoyed our time in Kafue and would consider returning to the Busanga Plain but would be very mindful of camp location relative to accessing the plain.

"Wonderful trip, planned two years ago and delayed by covid restrictions.

Sadly, my husband had died in the meantime so went on the trip with a friend who had not done this type of safari before. "Ive had the most wonderful adventure! As a solo traveller who had never travelled long haul, been to Africa or done a safari, I’ve been welcomed & looked after with such commitment & care I couldn’t have felt more safe & secure.

I’ve learnt so much I’ve already forgotten half of it! I’ve seen animals I never knew existed. I’ve been humbled by the sights I’ve seen & in awe of nature & the beautiful wildlife in the South Luangwa National Park. I’ve loved being outside for 2 weeks from sunrise till after sunset with no Wi-Fi or internet to interrupt or distract. I’ve met so many lovely, funny, generous people, from those working in the camps to many of the guests!

I really appreciated the routine the Robin Pope Camps set up, their practise, their 28-day menus, their modus operandi! It made travelling from camp to camp so much easier, knowing the routines of the day! Breakfast over a camp fire at sunrise, the line up of staff waiting to receive you on each return from a game drive, offering a wet towel & wanting to hear how the drive went!

The fresh cakes & pastries & biscuits made every day to accompany the coffee or sundowner picnics on the drives. The host & guides sharing the table at meal times after a long day of driving the jeep over such terrain. The attention to detail made this adventure all the more special.

It is certainly 2 weeks of my life I’ll never forget. And an experience I’d like to have again. Thank you so very much for everything!

I was extremely grateful & happy to be met at the airport at Lusaka, & helped re visas etc. The pick ups & handovers were excellent & made me less anxious about the travelling. Thank you for that too! So professional so thoughtful!

"We were very happy with the level of service and professionalism shown. We had a very clear idea of what we wanted and Maruska listened and delivered, suggesting perfect alternatives where necessary. It was a truely magical experience and worth every penny.

Remove aardvark or pangolin from your questionnaire and add kudu or a bird instead. The guides were fed up being asked to find such rare animals.

Give some guidance on what is expected on a walking safari as we had guests walking off on their own, chatting and coughing which wasnt ideal. "We had booked this trip in November 2019, so the anticipation was quite something! Claire Scott kept in touch with us throughout the booking and reassured us on the rollovers and was great at keeping our dates and also advising on flights and booking them.

We've been travelling with Expert Africa since about 1997 and so they know our taste and the importance of great guiding. The two Shenton Camps came highly recommended and did not disappoint.

It was lovely to get a text from Expert Africa's founder, Chris McIntyre, as we were in the departure lounge, wishing us a great trip and telling us about his recent visit to Kaingo and Mwamba.
