Serengeti Migration Area

The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most captivating safari areas.

Watch out for Leopards lazily laying on trees...

...or spot some giraffes on the wide, open plains.

...constantly moving in a huge loop, following the rains to find the replenished grasses.

"My Feb 2017 trip"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 11 Feb 2017 and 26 Feb 2017
"The best recommendation I can give is that I would use Expert Africa again, and I would recommend them to anyone going to Africa.

I would also recommend Nomad Tanzania to anyone going to Tanzania. Expert (Eleanor and Olivia) did a great job during the lengthy period of planning the trip, answering questions, responding by email in a timely fashion, alerting me to details that I needed to complete, nudging where appropriate, offering unbiased advice.

In short, our two week trip to Arusha, Gibbs Farm, the Ngorongoro Crater, Southern Serengeti, Northern Serengeti (Lamai), Stone Town and Zanzibar beaches was terrific and I would do it again. Especially the Serengeti. And no question that Serengeti Lamai was the highlight of the trip. A unique spot. I found it very moving to contemplate the origins of our species a million years ago arising from the very same surroundings, surviving the challenges of hunter and prey, and literally standing up on two feet and becoming the dominant species of the planet. Really powerful.

Well done, Expert Africa!" Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 10 on a Tanzania safari

"Asilia trip exceeded our expectations"

I visited Tanzania between 1 Feb 2017 and 17 Feb 2017
"The trip consisted of two nights at Arusha plus a total of 15 at Asilia camps: Highlands, Namiri and Sayari. All were very different but with one thing in common: the guiding and staff were excellent.

We would recommend Asilia camps because you can expect high standards across the board and also in the knowledge that they are involved in and contribute towards local communities. They employ as many local people as possible: at Highlands for instance there are Masai community guides. Asilia also have impressive training programmes: while at Sayari we saw this in action as a new batch of trainee guides was being selected.

Overall the balance of the trip was very good: the camps were in very different landscapes and the wildlife viewing exceeded our expectations." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 16 on a Tanzania safari

"My Jan 2017 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 27 Jan 2017 and 6 Feb 2017
"This holiday was just a spectacular journey. Varied, stimulating and fun all the way.

I wish to thank James Denny for working with me all year and making the recommendations that he did. I put this trip together for 3 of my friends but could not have done it without James/Expert Africa. I used Expert Africa for a trip to Botswana and found their planning and the companies that they work with to be reliable and was so glad to work with them once again. They are my Go-To experts for Africa.

My friends were totally delighted with the trip and sincerely loved all of the different pieces that made this a successful, perspective shifting, travel experience.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

No, I really don't. I feel blessed to have found this company. Thank you all so much." Read full review: 10 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

"My Dec 2016 trip"

I visited Tanzania and 2 other countries between 31 Dec 2016 and 14 Jan 2017
"As a whole, the trip was fabulous. With Elizabeth's help in the planning stage, I believe that we created a trip with the appropriate number of stops ( not too many) and a perfect mix of interesting, different locations.

The logistics of the vacation were excellent. There was not a single "hitch" in any of our transfers. Each and every guide/driver was gracious, efficient ---- a pleasure to be with.

Thank you for helping to create a great adventure." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 7 on a Tanzania safari

"Incredible holiday in every sense"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 21 Dec 2016 and 2 Jan 2017
"This holiday had been in the planning for several years so expectations and excitement were extremely high. A

part from the luggage fiasco, we were looked after incredibly well every step of the journey. We were never left wondering what/where/when as the organising was seamless. Each of the accommodations and game drive locations had something different to offer than the previous which kept it exhilarating the whole time. Finishing off with 5 nights on Zanzibar gave a perfect finish with some R&R in a stunning location with perfect weather.

Certainly a holiday to remember and some memories that we will all cherish. Unfortunately the boys now have a taste for such extravagance !!" Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 6 on a Tanzania safari

"The most incredible, amazing holiday "

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 3 Dec 2016 and 16 Dec 2016
"We had the most incredible, amazing holiday. It was truly a holiday of a lifetime.

The gorillas were unforgettable in Rwanda and I would definitely advise others who are thinking of going to do a trip to the golden monkeys first and two trips to the gorillas, as the second trip was even better than the first. We got so close to the gorillas we could have touched them (we didn't!). A silverback actually brushed past my husband - we all held our breath!

The safari in Tanzania was also incredible, but made even more special by our driver Faso who was so knowledgeable about all the animals and birds.

The holiday was not cheap, but it was worth every penny that we paid and would not hesitate to recommend Expert Africa. In fact, we are already of thinking about doing another safari, once we have saved up a bit!!

I want to thank Expert Africa for organising our trip.

We have lots of videos (especially of the gorillas) and photos if you would like us to send you some." Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

"October/November in the northern Serengeti"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 29 Oct 2016 and 3 Nov 2016

"Safari highs and airport lows"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 25 Oct 2016 and 7 Nov 2016
"We are huge Africa fans, and once you get away from their shambolic cities and airports, you get to see the best of the continent.
Our experiences at Nairobi airport, both with Coastal and Kenyan Airways/immigration sadly tainted a great trip.

I would probably not repeat the mobile camp stays, which in loo and shower terms were not satisfactory.
The quality/experience of guiding in Serengeti and Ngorongoro was not a patch on Selous Impala and Ruaha in Southern Tanzania, nor compared to Robin Pope camps in Zambia.
Our guide at the crater was lazy and not motivated - probably due to lower absolute level of tips from only two clients.
Lamai was a unique setting and well set up.

Pole Pole had a fantastic location, but was let down by poor maintenance of the showers - no hot water in that climate, and at that price is not good news. The staff were friendly, but not nearly as professional as at Kaya Mawa in Malawi. The Dive and watersports centre made our visit to Mafia memorable, in particular the fish BBQ on the sandbar after snorkelling at the reef."
