Bat-eared Fox Fly-in Safari

This is an ideal first-time safari and is the perfect add-on to a holiday in Zanzibar. Nyerere National Park is one of Africa’s biggest wildlife areas and is home to an abundance of animals.

Bat-eared Fox Fly-in Safari: Summary

Bat-eared Fox safari in a nutshell

This short fly-in safari is a perfect add-on to one of our beach holidays in Zanzibar. Nyerere National Park is Tanzania's largest wildlife area, being twice the size of the Serengeti. The Rufiji River is the lifeblood of Nyerere National Park and forms a complex network of channels, lakes and swamps creating a haven for wildlife.

Lake Manze serves as a great base from which to explore the best game-viewing areas of Nyerere National Park. The camp has been deliberately set up as rustic, providing guests with a comfortable stay but still giving a true sense of wilderness – a little like do-it-yourself camping but providing security and all the essential comforts with en-suite safari bathrooms, as well as hearty food. The staff are friendly and attentive.

The safari activities are varied. Lake Manze offers safari drives, boat safaris and walking safaris.

There are other camps which offer higher levels of luxury but Lake Manze delivers an authentic, down-to-earth safari which makes you feel connected with the surroundings – so it's an ideal camp if you're looking for a genuine adventure without all the bells and whistles.

Lake Manze Adventure Camp

Days 1-4

Lake Manze Adventure Camp opened in 2007 on a prime location overlooking Lake Manze. One of the more northerly of a series of lakes and rivers, this lies within a rich alluvial floodplain of the Rufiji River. The camp itself, lies at the heart of Tanzania's Nyerere National Park (formerly the Selous Game Reserve), in a grove of borassus, doum and wild date palms. Deliberately rustic in style, it provides guests with simple comforts and a strong sense of wilderness.
