"River Crossing review"

1 night Arrived 29 Aug 2016
"We stayed here for one night en route from safaris in Botswana to safaris in Namibia.

The cottage was spacious and comfortable, but a bit dark and outdated in decor, I would imagine quite difficult to keep clean.

The service and food were good, without being outstanding.

The location is out of town - which has its advantages, but also some downsides if you need to make any purchases. The view on all sides is nice, again without being outstanding." See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia; 6n in Zambia; 3n in Botswana

"Lovely end to our holiday"

1 night Arrived 14 Aug 2016
"River Crossing is located less than 10 minutes from Windhoek but it felt like another world away from the hustle and bustle. The setting on a hillside overlooking the city is great for relaxing either if you have just arrived, or if you're heading off home (which we were).

There is a nice swimming pool and decking area to relax, and rooms were spacious with everything we needed. Food was excellent too, with great game steak the obvious highlight. Though this isn't centrally located in Windhoek, don't let this put you off - it is such a small distance to travel in for a day/evening trip and this was a lovely place to spend the last night of our holiday." "A good first stop"

1 night Arrived 3 Aug 2016
"River Crossing was in the perfect position for a first night's stay. Near the airport but it felt rural.

The rooms were lovely as were the staff.

A good but not particularly memorable place." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"River Crossing review"

1 night Arrived 2 Aug 2016
"Staff were friendly and helpful though no one seemed to know anything about our transfer to the airport, which was made worse by the change of time of the flight and a lack of info from Air Namibia about this. Thanks to Tracy and one of the waitresses at River Crossing, this was resolved.

We enjoyed the opportunity to sit in the sun on the terrace at River Crossing, admiring the view of Windhoek, sipping our wine/beer as the sun went down. A sublime moment!

Our room was functional but a bit like sleeping in a bunker! It was certainly not pretty!" See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 9n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia

"OK for a last stop before flying out"

1 night Arrived 11 Jun 2016
"Set in the hills to the west of Windhoek the lodge does offer some great views of the capital city. It was fine for a last stop before flying out and the chalets were adequate, clean and sound.

The main reception, bar and dining area is pleasant enough, although possibly a bit lacking in character. All the staff were friendly and efficient and helpful. However, the vegetarian option for the evening meal was not pleasant.

There is wildlife around and we were told of a troop of resident baboons which we did not see. However, they certainly are common in the area and line the road on the way to the airport." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 8n in South Africa

"Convenient for airport"

1 night Arrived 31 May 2016
"We had no plans to explore the big towns this time so did not wish to stay in Windhoek. River Crossing is closer to the airport than Windhoek but is out in the wild so we were able to experience Namibian countryside for the first time.

The individual rooms are about 20/30 meters apart with small patios looking down the hillside. The main reception/dining/swimming area is higher up and at night when having dinner the lights of Windhoek can just be seen between the intervening hills. The staff were delightful, eager to please and to chat about Namibia, where we were going and where we lived in the UK.

We rested after our long flight from the UK and headed off early the next morning so there was no opportunity to try any activities on offer. Like most of the approach roads to the lodges it was gravel, but we passed workers laying paving, so in future the drive up promises to be smoother.

One problem we experienced was that the bath surround was in a bad state of repair and it did not reflect the apparent standard of the promotional material or the standard of the rest of the surroundings." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
