"Not sold on the cement fittings in our room but very comfortable bed and good dinner.
Glad we did not have to go out for a meal as a bit of a shock returning to the city and we had an early start the next day.
Receptionist insisted on the night security guard delivering us breakfast at 0545. The day guard washed and valeted our car for N$60. Budget had said we would have had to pay N$380 if the car was very dirty which it was." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia

Feedback Response
The owners of the replied to these comments with their usual speed, trying to clarify. They said that ….
“Our breakfast service (full cold buffet & hot breakfast ala carte menu) is available from 07h00. Should a guest require a breakfast earlier than 07h00, then we offer them a “breakfast tray menu” from which they can select their choice and they can advise the time at which they would like this tray delivered to their room. We apologise that, in this instance, this service appears to have been misunderstood, as we would never insist on a particular time at which the breakfast tray should be delivered – I can only think that our receptionist was suggesting that time, based on the guests departure time?
We do not offer a car wash & valet service at Olive Grove. It does sometime happen that a guest request this and, if we have the manpower available, then we arrange it with pleasure. We do not charge for this service; when asked we advise what this service would cost at a car wash in Windhoek (approximately N$80) and we also advise that if the guests does wish to pay for this service, then they can tip the staff member directly, at their discretion.”
We hope that these comments will make it easier for future travellers to understand how they operate.

"Staff very friendly and efficient on arrival. Our room was spacious and comfortable with mini bar and tea making facilities. Bathroom spacious with bath and separate shower and plenty of toiletries supplied (even candles for romantic lighting!!!!).
Plunge pool and use of Jacuzzi were added bonuses.
The Wellness Centre and available treatments were a surprise and I had an Indian head massage and a foot massage - well worth it as the therapist was excellent.
Food was good & the breakfasts were excellent.
We enjoyed having 2 nights here before moving on particularly the surprise discovery of hot water bottles in the bed with sheets turned down as well!!!!!." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"A peaceful friendly guest house with comfortable well-equipped rooms; a great place to start and finish a trip to Namibia. We had dinner in the hotel on both nights we stayed; the food was very good and other guests who went in to the city to eat were disappointed, so we made the right choice."

"Out room was off the main courtyard which meant that we had a lot of noise coming from people standing outside late at night and early in the morning.
Every where we went in Namibia people were so warm and welcoming. However our reception here was quite frosty" See all these reviews: 5n in Namibia

Feedback Response
On receiving this feedback, Olive Grove’s owner, Roger, was clearly quite surprised as he came back to us with a long note. He had tried to investigate why these travellers had found their reception here ‘quite frosty’ – and clearly was upset that someone had come away with this view. He pressed the point that this is not what they strive for.
On the issue of noise, he agreed that quite a few guests went to Joe’s for dinner and when they got back (around 22h00), there were some conversations in the car park. Similarly, the next morning, some guests were waiting in the car park for their respective transfers, and again there was some discussions going on there. He wasn’t aware of any loud or excessive noise – but apologised if there was any.
Roger remains sorry that these travellers didn’t enjoy the Olive Grove as much as he and his team always strive for.

"We stayed at the Olive Grove on three different occasions during our trip. The staff was always friendly and helpful.
We appreciated the variety of resources that were available to purchase at the beginning of our trip. The pocket guides to mammals and birds in Southern Africa that we purchased there were appreciated and utilized throughout our trip. In addition, we appreciated the variety offered at the breakfast buffet and dinners were very good. We also appreciated being able to store a couple of small but bulky items between our trips here." 1 night Arrived 13 Jun 2009
"A perfectly adequate start in Windhoek. Set in a residential road the slightly off-putting first impression of barbed wire and large electric gates were dispelled by a friendly welcome. Our room in a separate building across from reception. Plenty large enough but somewhat sombre, especially the bathroom, with dark concrete floors throughout. Breakfast reasonable. Since we weren't staying in the area we couldn't say how well this would function as a base for local activities."

"Relax at the Olive Grove Before or After"
1 night Arrived 11 Jun 2009
"We spent one night at the Olive Grove Guesthouse at the end our 5 week stay in southern Africa. It is a good place to stay either on arrival or departure from Windhoek airport.
We chose to have dinner at the guesthouse and the meal was excellent.
The rooms are large and comfortable and the location is easy to find by car." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana
