"A friendly central guesthouse."

3 nights Arrived 6 Nov 2014
"We had a very warm welcome and it was nice to see Peter again whom we had met 3 years earlier when we stayed here. Nothing was too much trouble, restaurant bookings and trip confirmations were all done for us.

It is in a convenient position in Swakopmund with an easy walk into town and to restaurants.

Some of the restaurants listed in our travel books have closed down and they were all very full. We would recommend early booking for the Jetty and the Tug as they are very popular and interesting places to eat in.

It rained whilst we were there, something people said had never happened before!

We all enjoyed the kayaking with Jeanne of Ecotours and the trip to the Cape Cross seal colony was well worth the long rather dull drive." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Friendly service, great location"

2 nights Arrived 28 Oct 2014
"We were greeted by a very friendly woman (Robyn) at the service desk who told us everything we would need to know about our two nights in Swakopmund. She also gave us a cell phone (not just a number) to contact her after hours if necessary since she does not live on the property.

We had the huge apartment-like room adjacent to the parking area. It was tastefully furnished and *so* big. A full living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. We didn't need a room that big but it was nice to spread out a bit. The advantage of the smaller rooms is that they overlook the garden area which is definitely a better view than what we had. But we didn't spend much time looking at the view so we were ok with the big room.

We had already booked a scenic flight on our own so Robyn just helped us confirm it over the phone with the flight company. This ended up being a very good idea because the plan for the flight actually changed, and if we hadn't called to confirm, the flight company would not have known how to contact us. Robyn recommended we eat at Kucki's for our first night and made the reservation for us.

We also had the staff take care of our laundry the next day. Seeing piles of beautifully clean and folded laundry on our bed when we got back that day was surprisingly exciting after being covered in dust for days!

The owners were there in the mornings and oversaw the breakfast service. They too were extremely friendly and helpful.

Cornerstone Guesthouse is an excellent choice for Swakopmund. It's centrally located, the staff are great, and the rooms are nice and have everything you need." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Wonderful guesthouse!"

2 nights Arrived 25 Sep 2014
"This really is a superb establishment. Our room was large and beautifully equipped and had a very comfortable seating area. Our host was charming and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast buffet table was a work of art with a wonderful selection of food and cooked breakfast was also available.

The bungalow is set in a most attractive garden. All the local amenities are within easy walking distance and there were no problems walking about in the evenings. Highly recommended !

A day trip to coast and dunes during stay in Swakopmund
Excellent - a good trip
We were picked up promptly by a very helpful guide/driver in a comfortable 4 x 4 vehicle. First stop was at Walvis Bay to see an amazing number of flamingos and to enjoy a leisurely stroll along the coastal path. Then on to Sandwich Harbour with views of the salt-processing plant along the way and a sometimes hairy ride among reed beds to reach the sandy terrain of the bay where the huge sand-dunes meet the sea. We left the vehicle at this point and walked towards the lagoon.

It was possible to climb the dunes for a better view of the lagoon although we decided against this! We were disappointed not to see many birds but this did not detract too much from the overall enjoyment of the trip. Our guide then astounded us by providing a hot lunch (courtesy of a microwave oven secreted in the back of the van) and soft drinks served round a table with comfortable chairs - most enjoyable! Our guide was excellent and a very good driver and deposited us back at our guesthouse after a most enjoyable trip." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Lovely place"

2 nights Arrived 18 Sep 2014
"We stayed at this guest house for two nights and were blown away by its quality. The welcome and service were first class; they even gave us a pre programmed mobile phone with their numbers on in case we experienced any difficulties.

The gardens are simply stunning and smell wonderful. The rooms are equally as good, spacious and clean with fresh linen. The owners were happy to recommend restaurants and make bookings for us, which they did on both nights. The town is within an easy 5-10 minute walk.

Breakfast was excellent." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 4n in South Africa

"Cornerstone Guesthouse review"

2 nights Arrived 13 Sep 2014
"This was excellent. The service when we arrived was brilliant - discussing and suggesting where to get a phone, booking dinner for us at restaurants for the two nights we were there and then taking us to the apartment. They also booked a restaurant for the following week in Windhoek.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful.

Our booking here had been missed by Wilderness and we opted to upgrade rather than try a different guesthouse. This was to a 3 bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a block of flats with excellent sea views and a garage. It was extremely comfortable and although much more than we needed I would highly recommend it to anyone for a group of 6 people. Very close to the jetty and restaurants." "A lovely, friendly place to stay, spacious room and excellent breakfast.

Very good meal at 'The Tug' and would also recommend The Village Cafe for lunch or just coffee and cake.

We drove to Walvis Bay to see flamingoes.

I did the kayaking trip which I have emailed you separately about." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Friendly and welcoming"

2 nights Arrived 6 Aug 2014
"Great place to stay if you visit Swakopmund.

However we may well have enjoyed staying at Walvis Bay more as that was where we kayaked with seals - great fun! My wife also had one of the best meals of our trip there in a restaurant called Anchors Aweigh - fantastic Prawns & Wings!

Whilst here, Expert Africa organised a Kayaking at Pelican Point trip. They commented:

We were really glad we did this trip. Well organised by Jeanne who very quickly after send us emails and videos of our time in the water with the seals.

Thoroughly recommend this trip and would say you need to book in advance with Jeanne as her trip is by far and away the best. 3 others offer a similar thing and we spoke to a Dutch family who went with one of the others and whilst enjoying what they did, they didn't get Jeanne's personal touch." "Cornerstone Guesthouse review"

2 nights Arrived 31 Jul 2014
"We weren't sure that we wanted to visit Swakopmund at all, having experienced British seaside resorts in winter. As we drove towards the coast and a wall of fog, we thought that our worst fears would be confirmed. In spite of this, and a nearly 30ÂşC drop in temperature, we are glad that we were persuaded to go (and that we had packed down jackets).

We divided the day between a boat-trip, which provided (very) close encounters with seals, pelicans, a rare whale and other wildlife, and a drive round the coast photographing flamingoes.

The Cornerstone provided an good base from which to explore the area. The staff were pleasant and helpful, booking trips and restaurants for us." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
