"Desert Homestead Outpost, Superior Unit stay"

2 nights Arrived 22 May 2018
"Wonderful stay in the Superior Unit: spacious, very private, felt like our own desert palace, at quite a distance from the main lodge however.

We choose the all in package which included all meals and drinks and two private excursions: a sundowner and a day tour to Sossusvlei.

Our guide Simon did an excellent job on both occasions and shared a wealth of knowledge about life in the dessert, showing us little details about plants and animals that really make you understand how special this area is." See all these reviews: 6n in Namibia

"Tranquil location"

2 nights Arrived 22 May 2018
"A beautiful property but the location was a bit too far from Sossusvlei for my taste. It was a very long drive to get to the dunes.

We were in Chalet 8. The view was great but it had limited clothes storage facilities and was quite a walk from the main building.

Breakfast was good but the service was slow and on the second morning was a bit slapdash. For example the woman who opened up (slightly late) for breakfast didn't say anything, she didn't leave any milk with the cereals and I had to plug in the toaster myself. Small points I know but telling ones for the quality of accommodation it promotes itself as being." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Fabulous and unique location"

2 nights Arrived 20 Jun 2017
"Desert Homestead Outpost is beautiful - the scenery with nothing man made for miles around was beautiful. The tented cabins were amazing with great views from the balcony and a roof terrace which we laid on to watch the stars. We got a personal welcome and tour from the manager on arrival, who was really friendly and welcoming.

The main building was lovely with a nice restaurant and viewing deck for sundowner drinks. We didn't use the pool (too cold!) but the pool area looked great too. The five course evening meal was excellent, with a choice of two main meals.

It is remote (20mins off the main gravel road on a very windy gravelly track) but that was the beauty of it. Highly recommended." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Desert Homestead Outpost review"

2 nights Arrived 15 Apr 2017
"We stayed in the fancy room which was INCREDIBLE. It was beautifully furnished and the private pool was something else.

The hospitality was above and beyond, and our guide Simon was a very funny, knowledgeable, charming character. We were able to book lovely activities, including a day trip out to Deadvlai and Sossusvlei.

The jogging trail disappeared and we almost got lost, but it is such beautiful scenery that we didn't really mind. It is so remote and so quiet that you feel like you own the world." See all these reviews: 3n in Namibia

"Desert Homestead Outpost review"

2 nights Arrived 8 Apr 2017
"Another remote location with stunning views across the desert, though with binoculars you can pick out distant animals barely visible to the naked eye. the riding is good, though based at the Homestead Camp which is nearer to the road, so a 10 minute drive back down the track to get there. And having visited both sites, we preferred the great remoteness and better views of the Outpost. The Homestead has a large hill between you and the sunset, and on our visit seemed to be attracting larger minibus groups of clientele, compared with the family / couples clientele of the Outpost.
Sleeping out under the stars can be done on small platforms above the tented cabins, and the small pool area is comfortable and welcoming. Lovely spot." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Desert Homestead Outpost review"

2 nights Arrived 26 Nov 2016
"Delightful camp with excellent accommodation. Henry the manager was most helpful and all the staff were very friendly. Only issue was the heat with the temperature reaching 44 oC. The pool was very welcome!

Simon the guide was wonderful and we saw as much of Sossusvlei as we needed.
Little waterhole near our lodge was a bonus.
What a fascinating area.

Flying in and out allowed us to see the full majesty of the desert." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia

2 nights Arrived 3 Nov 2016
"We stayed two nights here and had a wonderful stay.

This very remote and private. The scenery is stunning the rooms are beautiful (we stayed in the new room # 12 very spoilt).
We did the sundowner drive the first evening we were here and really enjoyed it and fortunate to see not only Oryx but some mountain Zebra as well.

The service, meals and facilities are outstanding. The staff are fantastic and well led by Henri and Lisa Sansom.
A special thanks to Henri and Lisa." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 8n in Botswana

"Desert Homestead Outpost review"

3 nights Arrived 22 Sep 2016
"It was interesting to pass close by to the previously visited Desert Homestead. The Outpost involves a roughly 7km drive further inland from the main road. The drive is a little rough in parts but well worth it as there are stunning views and a real sense of peace.

The manager, Claus, is really hands-on. He has an excellent and professional staff and he himself was constantly on hand at all times of day. His sense of humour and professionalism shone through. The accommodation is superb with excellent air conditioning. The activities are well organised ... although the sundowner guide might have had a better grasp of the local geology. One unexpected bonus was the tiny waterhole close to the dining area: Oryx and Springbok in particular trekked in numbers across the plains to visit.

The food was of a high standard throughout and the braai night was very successful indeed." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Desert Homestead Outpost review"

3 nights Arrived 2 May 2016
"Extremely remote camp that presents unpleasant traveling to the Dunes and back.

Somewhat less than welcoming arrival at reception but staff encounters improved over stay. Austere conditions (even in May) suggest that no more than a 2 night visit is needed at this camp." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
