"Desert Quiver Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 1 Mar 2023
"Really like the camp set up, sensible and low key.

Location is very convenient for Sesriem / Sossuvlei. Having done Fish River it felt that a two night stay here was a bit of overkill.

We had plenty of time to do everything we wanted with a one night stay so we left a day early and went on the the coast.

The desert location is lovely and the opportunity to braai was a nice change." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Desert Quiver Camp was in a beautiful location and the rooms were good and very spacious.

The staff at reception were very helpful and the meals we had at buffet meals we had at Sossusvlei lodge were very good agin in a beautiful setting.

The view of the stars at Desert Quiver camp every night were incredible.

On the way back from the pool just before dusk we were lucky to spot an African Wild Cat!" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"Wonderful location - very simple but well-designed. Lovely views from pool and bar area. Would highly recommend.

As Quiver camp self-catering, we went to Sossusvlei lodge for breakfast and dinner- food only average.

In addition to Oryx we saw ostrich and wildebeest." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Desert Quiver Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 8 Aug 2021
"Desert Quiver Camp was great place from which to explore Sossusvlei. The rooms were lovely, and we very much enjoyed the bar by the pool. Our meals were taken at the Sossusvlei Lodge, and were extremely good.

We went on a sunrise balloon ride with Namib Sky, and that was a wonderful experience.

I enjoyed the drive into the national park, the red dunes are spectacular. Sadly we didn't have time for much walking." See all these reviews: 10n in Botswana; 8n in Namibia; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Another favourite"

"What clever designs of these open plan self catering chalets.

Excellent rooms & lay out & we loved the kitchen area where now you see it & now you don't with its zip up & down.

Wonderful sunsets, BBQ facilities perfect, great pack of utensils etc & good quality food delivered which we had pre-ordered, but be warned we ordered far too much meat!

Lovely relaxing place & a great swimming pool." See all these reviews: 27n in Namibia; 1n in Botswana

"Tourism? Yes; but not as we know it."

2 nights Arrived 25 Mar 2017
"Unique! Well, there are other places to stay but the whole desert experience is unforgettable. This place is well described in the guide books. Quite new, the outdoor canvas-covered kitchenette may not last too well but it is fine for this year. We were able to self-cater for evening food and had breakfast down the road at the main lodge. There was a little moment of doubt about our being able to have breakfast for free. But we were early and we didn't make pigs of ourselves so no harm done.

We joined the queue of cars to enter the park at dawn when the shadows on the dunes are at their most spectacular. It is also not as boiling hot as it would be later. Everyone drive very sensibly, well spaced out, and most stopped for a photo opportunity or two. Two hot-air balloons were the focus of several holiday snaps.

The well-organised transfer to 4WD vehicles allowed us to relax and enjoy the scenery. I wouldn't have liked to let the air out of my own tyres, even if 4WD, and miss the views. Clambering over the dunes was quite tiring! It was good to get back to the camp's swimming pool..." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Desert luxury at Desert Quiver Camp"

2 nights Arrived 22 May 2016
"Spacious and well equipped room. Very comfortable bed and good power shower.

Pool very cold but good for a dip after dusty, hot day in the dunes.

Able to hire full kitchen equipment set after paying a deposit. Fire wood and lighters provided for BBQ for minimal charge.

Lovely to sit on the deck at dusk/night with a sundowner drink and see the wildlife that comes to the waterhole (Oryx, Ostrich, Jackals).

Minor frustration is that you have to drive to bigger lodge for meals or activity pick ups. Very good food once there though!

Whilst at Desert Quiver Camp these guests enjoyed a morning balloon flight. Here's what they said about it:
Good safety briefing and very informative and friendly guide.
Comfortable jeep transfers to and from balloon.
Amazing experience had by all of our group. Sunrise over the desert was spectacular and we will have some treasured photos to remember the trip.
Breakfast next to the canyon was delicious!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana

"An oasis in the desert lean, modern, fun"

2 nights Arrived 22 May 2016
"Clean, modern, functional units designed to fit in with the desert environment and situated within easy access to Sossouvlei.

There was some confusion over the evening meals. Our itinerary stated the we were on a B&B basis so accordingly we had bought food before our arrival at the camp. We were then told that we were booked in for dinner at nearby Sossouvlei Lodge which on the second evening we had to forgo. The food at the lodge was excellent.

These guests enjoyed a Balloon flight over the Namib Desert. Here's what they said about it:
Awesome!

A very professional outfit. We felt completely safe in their hands. A wonderful way to see the desert landscape.

The champagne breakfast was very tasty with plenty of variety.

Would highly recommend this activity to others." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Luxurious value for money in stunning spot."

2 nights Arrived 22 May 2016
"As our first venue in the wild on this safari Desert Quiver blew us away with the location and facilities. The huts felt luxurious and the bar/pool area under the kopje overlooking the desert was exotic Africa.

Service was good and we found to our surprise that dinner and breakfast were both catered for at nearby Sossusvlei Lodge. We had expected breakfast only and are not sure whether we had a free meal by mistake or the error was ours. The food at the Lodge was outstanding, while the bbq we held ourselves on night two was great fun, with jackals and oryx entertaining us under an amazing night sky.

We felt this camp was real value for money.

the hot air balloon safari is a real must. This was an outstanding experience.

These travellers enjoyed a morning balloon flight over the desert during their stay. Here's what they said about it:
The whole hot air ballooning activity was a superb experience from the drive through the dark in the desert to the launching pad to the exciting landing on the rim of Sesriem Canyon. It was professionally run and had all our group buzzing for days afterwards. The champagne breakfast was delightful overlooking the Canyon and Sossusvlei plains. The pilots were professional, informative and passionate about the flight. Those who started the flight in some trepidation soon felt comfortable and everyone enjoyed the flight to the utmost. The stunning desert scenery added immensely to the whole experience. Cannot be recommended highly enough ." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe
