What a treat - thank you.
It was a wonderful welcome to the Namibian desert and the communal areas were so relaxing as was the rather fresh but welcome pool." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"
We took a guided tour out to Sossuslvei deep in the Namib Desert. An incredible place with might dunes in red sand creating a cove around a dead lake with 1000yr old tress on the lake floor. A much photographed location and you can tell why when you are there, striking shapes and colours, quite other worldly in the middle of the desert. Our guide had laid another incredible table in a shaded area for us to enjoy lunch, we felt very privileged.
The Hoodia Lodge is beautifully presented with only a small amount of lodges which ensured is was a relaxed atmosphere and food served here was possibly the best we had on our whole 2 week holiday." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

Hoodia Lodge is set in an amazing location with a mountain backdrop and views of the desert. There is a small waterhole behind the main lodge, but we did not see any animals there. On the morning we left there was a large troop of baboon on the move behind the chalets.
We arrived. Had a chance to change and do some hand washing, then we were taken to have sundowners in the desert on the side of a butte. A table was set with drinks and appetizers, then we were treated to the spectacular colorful sunset with the desert colors changing from browns, to oranges and pinks. Along with some springbok off in the distance. What a wonderful start to our Namibia holiday.
The rooms are well appointed, very comfortable beds with quality linen and mosquito netting. Each room has an indoor and outdoor shower (outdoor is also a large bath tub). There is an outside seating area, and also a large outside deck at the main lodge.
The lodge staff are friendly and very service oriented and all speak excellent English. And the food - every meal we had from breakfast to dinner was excellent.
The day after arrival, we did the full day excursion to Sossusvlei. It is about 30 minutes to the park entrance gate. We were not particularly impressed with our guide. It felt like he had a schedule of stops, and he was not stopping except at those stops. The only animal he pointed out all day was a jackal that ran across the road in front of us. I'm rating the lodge as Excellent. But to be honest, if you read my review, I'm giving the Sossusvlei excursion an Average because of the guide." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

Check in was thorough and helpful, and the room was just as described online, very pleasant.
The food here was amongst the best on our trip - the steak on our first night was not bettered anywhere else - and the view from the terrace for pre, and post dinner drinks was divine." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

Facilities are excellent as is the service and we were very well looked after including our day trip to the dunes which we very much enjoyed.
A highlight for us was stargazing - the moon was rising early so we asked the staff to switch off some lights to allow an early view of the Milky Way. They obliged by switching off all the lights and we had a spectacular view of the night sky - never to be forgotten.
The food requires a shout out - truly excellent food, served and presented with care, we were genuinely blown away by the quality given the remote location- a real treat." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
