"Ongava Tented Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 21 Jan 2011
"Great camp, wonderful hospitality, game drives were exceptional, our bush guide had so much patience and paid rewards 3 week old lions with mother plus many other sighting.

The bush camp "feeling" was a little too much when enjoying our evening meal and swams of insects invaded each night.." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Lions, Lions and Lions"

2 nights Arrived 15 Oct 2010
"The camp has been upgraded in the Wilderness style but has not lost to much of its bush camp feel.

The staff were excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. We had lion in camp for most of the time we were there and had other excellent sightings away from the camp.

The resident porcupine also made dinner a memorableable event." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana

"Ongava Tented Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 4 Oct 2010
"The tents are well appointed and very clean, but unacceptably close to each other affording little or no privacy. There is also very little shade making the camp almost unbearable during the afternoon siesta. There is a pool, but it didn't look too clean. The food varied between ok and dreadful - undercooked chicken and nearly raw sausages for example.

In the camp's favour it must be said that the water hole is very close to the camp and presented excellent photo opportunities." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Best veranda at Ongava Tented Camp"

3 nights Arrived 3 Oct 2010
"Arrived by car mid in the mid-afternoon heat and were taken to our tented room which directly overlooked the waterhole a very short distance away, where lions were monopolising it from a waiting throng of water buck, zebra, springbok, kudu, etc. etc. There was coming and going to the waterhole by all animals throughout the day and night - a great spot.

Very attentive staff and relaxed atmosphere despite the proximity to lion. Etosha heaving with wildlife - note that the drive to Etosha passes through Okaukuejo where there is a large shop and post office, so take some money (we didn't as were not told shops would be en route).

No mosquitos." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Ongava Tented Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 20 Sep 2010
"We enjoyed having a waterhole in front of the main area which is very busy with game.

Although everyone was very friendly here, we didn't feel it had the same relaxed feel as at Desert Rhino. There seemed to be much more of a separation between managers and staff.

Our tent was right next to the main area, which meant it was a little public at times. However, the quality of the room itself was extremely good.

We had fanatastic game viewing and had a great day in Etosha." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Magic time at a magic place"

3 nights Arrived 11 Sep 2010
"This was highlight of the holiday. Seemed to be a very well run place. Service and food were excellent and the guide (Festus) was outstanding. Apart from the game in Etosha, we were fortunate enough to have some very good viewing on the Ongava private reserve.

One day we arrived early for breakfast, and the serving staff asked to borrow our binoculars so they could look at some lion cubs that were in sight of the camp. It was that sort of infectious enthusiasm and enjoyment that made the place so special." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Waterhole in camp and the meals were stars"

2 nights Arrived 22 Aug 2010
"Very secluded and private. Rooms were comfortable with both indoor and outdoor showers. Staff was excellent (Paul, Gerda and Michael--on loan from Little Ongava) and engaging.

Game drives yielded lion, black and white rhino and giraffe along with several birds and all manner of antelope. Waterhole within 30 meters of the terrace and dinning area was constantly yielding unparalleled viewing of wildlife.

Rio and Leon were excellent guides." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Ongava Tented Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 19 Aug 2010
"OTC was our main destination on the southern side of Etosha and was one of the highlights of our visit to Namibia. We saw rhino, lion and many species of ungulates here including zebra (two kinds), giraffe, kudu etc. The tented accomodations of OTC are very comfortable and balance rustic and luxury very well. The main lodge area overlooks a very active watering hole and just watching the passing parade of visitors can be mesmerizing.

My only suggestion would be to enhance the company's offerings of walking activities. our guide Festus showed us the area adjacent to the camp and was very knowledgeable but we would have happily extended the range of such activities.

Festus also showed us the best rhino sighting of our entire trip to Namibia as well as a distant Brown Hyena; with Leon we also saw quite a few lions. We did not tour into Etosha from OTC, having spent the day before in the park." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Lovely camp (My favourite) best of both worlds – Ongava private reserve and Etosha national park, teaming with game, double the opportunity to view the animals.

Great to have a night camera on the camp's water hole... with both black and white rhino whilst eating dinner." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia
