2 nights Arrived 7 Oct 2008
"Water hole not as good as Okakujo. Courtyard of old fort an excellent setting for restaurant.

The new bungalow we were allocated was excellent.

The resort manager introduced himself and it is clear that the Namibian government is making a real effort to maintain high standards at the rest camps." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Great stay at the "Fort""

2 nights Arrived 3 Oct 2008
"Reception staff better than other Etosha camps but accommodation was almost luxury and quite a pleasant surprise.

Food was from a la carte menu and with waitress service was of far better standard that other Etosha camps. Waterhole fine and gives very close experience to animals. Some very good waterholes nearby too and if you are carefull you should see pelicans and flamingo on the pan." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Etosha`s great . Shame about the restcamp"

2 nights Arrived 24 Sep 2008
"The new rooms are at first sight very good with modern furniture and state of the art bathrooms. There were three showers a bath and two washbasins but not a drop of hot water.

The rooms become quite claustrophobic after a while as they are fenced in on both sides by 8ft high palings.

There appear to be two restaurants, a Grill and an African Fusion Bistro. However it became apparent that there was one menu and one kitchen serving the same food in each.

The shops were poor with very surly staff. The grocery store was practically empty and could not be relied upon for picnics, barbecues or stamps. We were very pleased that we had stocked up in the nearest town.

The staff at the main gate and in the office were very offhand and not at all concerned about the water situation. The only smiles we got were from the willing waiters and waitresses.

Overall immpression ; you are here so take it or leave it. Having said that Etosha`s waterholes were as good as ever and we saw lots of game all day everywhere." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 2n in Zambia

"Namutoni Restcamp review"

2 nights Arrived 22 Sep 2008
"Of the 2 Ethosha restcamps we stayed at (Okaukuejo being the other) we much preferred Namutoni. The water-hole doesn't have the big game that Okaukuejo attracts, but it was a more intimate setting, and gave the opportunity to observe other birds and animals.

The rooms were of an excellent standard, including indoor and outdoors showers. Meals, taken inside the fort, were served at your table, with a couple of choices for each course. There are several excellent water-holes within 10 minutes of the restcamp, giving you the chance to be at them straight after sun-rise, and to linger to the last possible moment in the evening." 2 nights Arrived 2 Sep 2008
"apart from waterhole not being as good for viewing as Okaukeuejo, everything else about Namutoni was FAR better.

Food better - good choice, a la carte, people much nicer, room lovely. Widelife around Namutomi was better for viewing." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Great base camp for viewing Etosha."

2 nights Arrived 26 Aug 2008
"The room was wonderful; very large and comfortable. The oudoor shower was a treat on a hot day.

The night game drive was definitely worth doing to see the nocturnal animals. We saw lion and rhino we hadn't seen during the day.

The location was great for driving into the park.

The food was of uneven quality. Surprisingly, the crocodile was good and the chicken was very tough. Breakfasts were good.

Note that fuel was not available when we were there. As noted in your tips, fill up when available." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia
