"Nice large lodge near Etosha"

2 nights Arrived 16 Aug 2011
"Etosha Safari Lodge has a great view over kilometers of wild bush.
The lodge is quite big, but the individual chalets are well separated and it doesn't feel over crowded.
Rooms aren't luxurious, but they are very spacious and have a nice balcony with view. The dining area is comfortably large and breakfast / dinner are served as buffet, food quality is good.
Our expectations on this lodge were quite low, but we were positively impressed!
We took part in the full day drive inside Etosha: it was on a large open truck which offered an excellent viewpoint, with the chance to move around the truck - only downside is that it's a 24people truck, but it wasn't full when we took the drive. We were happy with the activity for exploring Etosha for the first day." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"Etosha Safari Lodge"

2 nights Arrived 23 Jul 2011
"This was the only place on our whole trip that we were disappointed with. It was really expensive, and just not good value. Scores of little chalets in lines along the hillside gave great views, but it was too big , not personal enough, and not particularly well run. Rooms just OK, with little or no storage and a very poor shower arrangement which was a poorly done wet room style . This flooded the floor whenever we had any sort of wash, and you had to stand in a pool of water to brush your teeth. A case of more form over function.

Food also disappointing compared to all the other places we had been. Buffet style, not much choice, and well dried out if you didnt start straighaway at 18.30. Quite good access to Etosha park through Anderson Gate , but i think that we would have preferred to stay in the park. We had originally rejected this on the basis of it not being comfortable enough, but we had a look around and it all looked very nice.

Saw lots of ani's just driving around by ourselves, you definitely don't need to take a tour." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Good game"

2 nights Arrived 8 Nov 2010
"This place had obviously had some recent renovation. The overall impression was of good service (although the bar orders took a long time) and excellent food. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, which had been well thought out.

The location was great for getting to the park gate." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Large hotel/lodge - functional"

2 nights Arrived 15 Aug 2010
"Compared to the smaller lodges that we had stayed in, Etosha Safari Lodge struggled for the personal touch. We had a friendly welcome but the service from that point on became more functional and lacked attention to detail.

There are now 65 bedrooms so obviously a lot of people and therefore the restaurant gets crowded. Couple of examples of poor service were: - three separate waitresses asked whether we would like soup - but none brought it to us!. In our bedroom a light was broken on the first night but not replaced.

Small things but indicative of the general "slackness".

PLUS points - Three separate swimming pools - very nice. Spacious rooms with views across to Etosha and a nice lit walkway from distant rooms to main lodge.
Very convenient for entry into Etosha through the Anderson Gate but be prepared for a small delay to complete (unnecessary) paperwork to gain entry into the park.

Etosha is geared up for self-drive and we spent three days driving around with no or little problem. We saw as much if not more than we would of had we used the expensive guided trips from the lodge, as we could decide where to go and how long to stay at each waterhole." "Etosha Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 3 Aug 2010
"This was a lovely base for visiting Etosha. The room was very comfortable with a nice little balcony and a great view.

The main building was quite elegant with a wonderful balcony for sundowners! The food was tasty and the service was good.

On our second night we decided to have dinner at Etosha Safari Camp because we had been told that there would be live music there. The receptionist phoned to let them know we were coming and we were given a lift there and back by a member of staff from the Lodge. We just had to pay for our drinks at the camp. We had a very pleasant evening and the food and service was very good." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Comfortable base at Etosha Safari Lodge"

1 night Arrived 17 May 2010
"Despite being a large camp, the individual bungalows all look out onto woodland and are fairly well spaced. The rooms are well designed with small balconies, tea & coffee, good lighting, air con, etc.

Food was good, and staff were friendly and helpful without being fussy. The place was generally well organised.

Pity the place isn't in the Park." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Etosha Safari Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 25 Aug 2009
"The rooms were well appointed and the food was good - buffet starter and a choice of main course and puddings. This is a relatively new lodge and they are still working on the access road which is paved and which will greatly enhance the approach. The staff were welcoming and dealt swiftly with the fact that we turned up there for a second night, having left our luggage in our room believing that we were there for two nights! Fortunately, they had the capacity to accommodate us, phoned ahead to let Okaukuejo know what had happened, had our room cleaned ready for the night and were delightful about the whole misunderstanding.

Bonus was that they serve breakfast early, so you can be at the gate to Etosha as it opens." See all these reviews: 24n in Namibia; 11n in South Africa
