"Fabulously stylish place with stunning views."

1 night Arrived 30 Jul 2013
"Another amazing destination. We were glad we'd paid the extra to stay in such a remarkably designed place - where everything looked exquisite. The attention to detail was on another level - better than we've experienced in designer hotels in Los Angeles or New York!!

Fabulous scenery and a truly memorable trip to find the desert elephants - another highlight of our stay.

Our guide Athanassius was brilliant - charming, funny and very knowledgeable." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Unbeatable location"

2 nights Arrived 19 Jul 2013
"Wonderful and clever location amongst the huge boulders, with great views. Game drive was outstanding and well worth an early start (5.30 am). The wild desert elephants, especially babies are a feature.

Suggest they ditch attempts at city centre style nouvelle cuisine !" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"Mowani Mountain Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 1 Jul 2013
"We particularly enjoyed the trip to track the Desert Elephants, the guide was knowledgeable , it was unhurried and gave us plenty of time to watch the elephants.

We felt that the camp lacked positive management which reflected on the service in the dining room. When taking the bags to the room one of our bags was damaged due to lack of care." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Mowani Mountain Camp"

1 night Arrived 30 Jun 2013
"The accommodations at Mowani Mountain Camp are simply stunning. We stayed in numerous beautiful places during our time in Namibia, but Mowani was in a league of its own. There are few places in the world more beautiful for a sundowner.

We also enjoyed a fun excursion tracking rare desert adapted elephants, which ended with us watching a herd feast near a dry riverbed.

That said, service in the restaurant was a bit lacking (we waited 20 minutes at dinner before being given the menu, and when, at their instruction, we showed up at 6 am for a pre-excursion breakfast, no food was out)." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"Superb location and accommodation"

2 nights Arrived 18 Jun 2013
"The iced home-made lemonade on arrival was much appreciated after the long drive from Cape Cross, but the welcome was a bit on the cool side too. The location and accommodation was, however, superb. Our secluded thatched chalet sat snugly between the granite boulders, with roll-up canvas walls giving views over the surrounding bush. Inside, the chalet was the most spacious we encountered, with lots of storage space, double washbasins, and inside shower and toilet.

Walking from the chalet to the communal areas there are countless birds, basking lizards, scampering dassies, and, at night, the odd small snake. The sundowner spot, with drinks and snacks on hand, is spectacular, both at sunset and sunrise. Food is of a high standard, but when the camp is full the service from the kitchen can be somewhat slow.

On the day we arrived the guides had not managed to find any desert elephants, which had left the nearby river bed to go up into the mountains. But next day, our guide Athan was determined to find them, which he did with skill, persistence, and much checking of the age of the dung we encountered on the way. It made the early chilly start and long drive worthwhile.

Mowani also offers guided tours to the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, to the organ pipes, and to the Damaraland Living Museum, but these are all very close and we chose to visit them in our own vehicle, particularly since you have have a guide when you get there anyway." "Astounding sundowner location"

2 nights Arrived 18 Dec 2012
"Just loved how this lodge fitted entirely into it's surroundings. It really is a work of art and the warm colour of the boulders make it a welcoming place as do the staff.

Nice to have the historical aspect to the activities with the bushmen art, as well as seeing wildlife along the dry river bed. Again the guides were very knowledgable and interested and had great humour.

The sundown spot was one you could never tire of and a good way to meet the other guests." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Mowani Camp fabulous"

2 nights Arrived 3 Nov 2012
"Wonderful camp set in the rocks - we loved it! Rooms were large and discreetly hidden from each other with excellent facilities.

Sundowner area was 2 minute walk away with its own bar with lovely cold beers! Staff very helpful and friendly. Our favourite of the trip!

Safari was excellent if a little long but that was the fault of the elusive elephants!" See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Mowani seems quite a slick operation"

1 night Arrived 30 Sep 2012
"Our first experience of gravel roads on the way to Mowani - so it felt like quite a long drive from Erongo (although fine looking back).

The setting is very striking nestling in the pink rocks.

The staff were very welcoming but a bit on the pushy side for us. We would have preferred things a bit calmer!

The room was very nicely decorated and well equipped - and it was a good place to stay for the Twyfelfontein rock carvings, and as a stopover to Etendeka where we were headed next.

We didn't have time to go on any of Mowani's activities (we were only there one night) - but took ourselves to see the rock carvings." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"Mowani - so much more than a camp!"

1 night Arrived 17 Sep 2012
"We loved Mowani Mountain Camp, from the moment Heinrich gave us an exuberant welcome at the gate, to when he said goodbye (Ciao-ciaoooo!!!). The setting is just wonderful, and the view rooms have such a wow factor. The natural pool, the sundowner spot among the boulders, and the central areas for eating and relaxing are all fantastic. Food - no-choice set dinner - was very good.

Our trip with August, our great guide, was hugely enjoyable. The drive to find desert-adapted elephants was long but never boring, and when we found the herd, it was brilliant. We were also taken to the rock engravings, the organ pipes and burnt mountain.

We were only able to book one night at Mowani, but would have loved to have two to have a chance to relax in the beautiful surroundings." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia
