My Oct 2012 trip
Namibia between 25 Oct 2012 and 12 Nov 2012
We saw much more wildlife than we expected."

Heinitzburg Hotel
"Lovely hotel, but ......."

Wolwedans Desert Lodge
"Wolwedans Dunes Lodge review"
Drives were good but somewhat limited in finding different things to see.
Perhaps a good idea to warn visitors that no electric points are available in the lodges.
By no means the best one we stayed in."

Hoodia Desert Lodge
"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"
Food was superb - especially the imaginative vegetarian meals.
With temperatures of 45C it was extremely HOT!! The AC in the room failed to work apparently it was 'too hot for it'! Thankfully it eventually worked at some time in the night when the temperature fell a little.
Wifi was available - pleasant surprise."

Ballooning in the Namib Desert
"Ballooning cancelled!"
31 Oct 2012 • Morning excursion
Because of the unusually high temperatures and lack of things to do we decided to leave a day earlier and go to Swakopmund hence losing a night's accommodation.

Cornerstone Guesthouse
"Cornerstone Guesthouse review"
The Cornerstone was also very nice and we were very comfortable there. Rooms were spacious. The staff were efficient but not over friendly. Our personal preference would have been to stay the 3 nights at Organic Square."

Mowani Mountain Camp
"Mowani Camp fabulous"
Sundowner area was 2 minute walk away with its own bar with lovely cold beers! Staff very helpful and friendly. Our favourite of the trip!
Safari was excellent if a little long but that was the fault of the elusive elephants!"

Ongava Lodge
"Ongava Lodge review"
Room was lovely with excellent facilities."

Onguma Tented Camp
"Onguma Tented Camp review"
The room itself was extremely hot and airless and the fan was useless! The pool area was relaxing and very welcome in the heat."

Okonjima Bush Camp
"Okonjima Bush Camp review"
Excellent guides who were very knowledgable and helpful."

Eningu Clayhouse
"Eningu Clayhouse review"
The mud huts were very organic and unusual.
We got the impression that guests are somewhat scarce here as there were very few entries in the guest book.
Food was excellent, staff very quiet and unassuming."
However, after 36 hours travelling we were keen to eat dinner quickly and have an early night. The restaurant staff took over 30 minutes to produce an English menu and there were no cold beers. When the food eventually arrived it was delicious."
