"Doro Nawas review"

3 nights Arrived 14 Apr 2014
"The location of Dore Nawas is magnificent! We were fortunate to see the area so lush and green after the recent rainfall, but can imagine that the area would look rather parched during periods of drought. The 'sleeping under the stars' is an experience worth repeating, even more so after the lesson in astronomy by our guide. Richardt is a very enthustiastic and personable guide, and we enjoyed our geology walk with him especially.

All staff at Doro Nawas are extremely friendly and helpful. We were most impressed (especially our 12-year old son) that all staff remembered and addressed us by our names.

Doro Nawas is an excellent choice for self-drives to Twyfelfontein, the Petrified Forest, the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"An unusual and scenic location"

1 night Arrived 13 Jan 2014
"Our visit was just one night and it followed the Desert Rhino camp which would be hard for anywhere to compete with (although Doro Nawas is run by the same organisation - Wilderness Trails - equally professionally).

Accommodation was spacious and well appointed in individual thatched chalets. The communal facilities are on a high rock outcrop with wonderful views. Food was good. Staff as always were welcoming and hospitable." See all these reviews: 25n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana

"Doro Nawas review"

2 nights Arrived 17 Nov 2013
"This was one of the two lodging highlights of our trip. The setting and design of the main lodge and individual units was just wonderful and staff was, without exception, genuinely attentive and helpful. It is all in a spectacular setting and enjoying this at night by rolling the bed out onto the terrace was a brilliant idea.

We did take the evening drive to look for the elephants and happily found them but even if we hadn't the ride in the riverbed at sunset was gorgeous. The tours are a little pricey but the experience of being in this setting for a couple of days was unmatched for us." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Desert elephants a highlight"

2 nights Arrived 15 Oct 2013
"View of the 'fort ' on approach looked rather like Alcatraz !! Not the most welcoming of buildings but luckily better inside than out.

The rooms were also splendid so first impressions not always correct! The elephant drive was a huge success, with a lot of elephants to the pound and the guide excellent. The visit to the village was really interesting and the people really keen to share their way of life with us. Anyone who thinks they have a hard life should definitely go there and experience how happy and welcoming these people are in very difficult circumstances. We also learnt that empty coke cans keep elephants away from your tomato plants!

The staff were friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"What a lovely place again. Very helpful and we enjoyed exchanging tales with other guests.

We went on the trip to find the desert elephants- we were very pleased we had done this. We saw lots and would thoroughly recommend to others.

We visited the other local sites by car ourselves which was very easy to do." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Doro Nawas review"

2 nights Arrived 12 Oct 2013
"When you approach Doro Nawas, it's a pretty weird sight seeing what looks like Moorish castle on top of a hill. But it turns out to a well designed main facility with view rooms around the bottom.

We were lucky that our guide was able to find the group of desert elephants very quickly and we were able to follow them into the small village where there is a water tank. In addition, the village was holding its big celebration at the time. However, if the elephants had been somewhere else that day, it might not have been such an outstanding experience."
