Wattled Crane Safari

A good-value Botswana safari staying at comfortable lodges in prime wildlife-viewing areas – Chobe National Park and the Moremi Reserve in the Okavango Delta.

Wattled Crane Safari: Summary

Wattled Crane Safari in a nutshell

This good-value six-night safari combines two sister camps, one in Chobe National Park and the other in the Moremi Game Reserve, a core area of the Okavango Delta.

Both Savute Safari Lodge and Camp Moremi are located in top wildlife-viewing areas. Chobe and the Savuti Marsh host huge herds of elephants and plenty of predators, while the lush Moremi has some of the most prolific and dense game we’ve seen in Botswana. Being inside national parks, you’ll be able to explore on daytime game drives and boat safaris and enjoy some excellent guiding.

With spacious tented chalets set on wooden decks, each camp offers something a little more comfortable and permanent feeling than a traditional mobile set up.

Though the camps are far apart, as with most trips in Botswana your stays are linked by stunning light aircraft flights. These hops are often spectacular, giving you a real insight into the landscapes and landforms which make up the Chobe and Okavango Delta, as well as the chance to spot some of the larger animals from the air.

Savute Safari Lodge

Days 1-4

Perched on the banks of the Savuti Channel within Chobe National Park, Savute Safari Lodge offers a good location from which to explore the nearby Savuti Marshes. Comfortable without being luxurious, the camp enjoys views over the Savute Channel and its two pumped waterholes, which – especially during the dry season – attract vast numbers of elephant to drink in the afternoons and evenings.

Camp Moremi is one of three well-established camps on the tip of the Mopane Tongue in Botswana's Moremi Game Reserve. Shaded by a variety of riverine trees, including leadwood and jackalberry, it lies in pleasant grounds directly overlooking the peaceful Xakanaxa Lagoon.

We may be able to build in some of these optional excursions from the Wattled Crane Safari. Talk to us: they’re usually best arranged when you book.

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Various: from 30 minutes to half a day.

Low-flying, agile and offering superb views, helicopters are an ideal way to move around the Okavango Delta. You can use them instead of fixed-wing inter-lodge transfers or as an addition to other wildlife watching activities, and of course, helicopters can hover to allow that perfect pic, whereas fixed-wings can’t.
