Honey Badger Safari

Two smart sister camps offer access to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and the heart of the Okavango Delta. Experience a spectacular range of habitats and wildlife through diversely exciting safari activities.

Honey Badger Safari: Summary

Honey Badger Safari in a nutshell

This contrasting safari focuses on excellent game from within two diversely varied habitats. Whilst both Tau Pan and Kwara Camp are managed by the same operation, and so benefit from a consistency in high quality and standard of guiding throughout, the safari experience at each is vastly different.

Beginning in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Tau Pan offers fast access to some of Botswana’s best summer game-viewing. The expansive pans fill with huge herds of plain’s game, including interesting species such as springbok and oryx, which attract equally impressive numbers of predators. These encounters can be highly dramatic and make for thrilling game-viewing. Tau Pan is also one of only two permanent camps in the region and so offers wildly remote safari which can be enjoyed with near complete exclusivity.

Situated at the heart of the Okavanago Delta, Kwara camp then provides a contrastingly luscious exploration of thriving vegetation and a patchwork of waterways, as well as a focused pursuit of phenomenal predator sightings. A range of activities are available from within the private reserve, where boating and mokoro trips combine well with night drives, bush walks and visits to the nearby heronry to make for a well-rounded experience.

Tau Pan Camp

Days 1-4

The first permanent camp to open inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) – and still one of only two within the reserve – Tau Pan sits on a low sand ridge with commanding views over the surrounding plains to Tau Pan itself, and beyond.

Kwara Camp

Days 4-7

In the heart of the Okavango Delta, Kwara Camp sits on a forested island within the private, game-rich Kwara Reserve. From this vantage point, overlooking floodplains and a seasonal lagoon, it offers year-round land and water activities. Following a complete rebuild in September 2019, the camp is now far more upmarket in style than previously, with no under 18s allowed.

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Various: from 30 minutes to half a day.

Low-flying, agile and offering superb views, helicopters are an ideal way to move around the Okavango Delta. You can use them instead of fixed-wing inter-lodge transfers or as an addition to other wildlife watching activities, and of course, helicopters can hover to allow that perfect pic, whereas fixed-wings can’t.
