Mopane Squirrel Safari in a nutshell
This wildlife-orientated safari features two of Botswana’s most spectacular game destinations, with stays in private reserves that offer a great range of activities and potential for exclusive viewing. Be it through their ability to pursue game further with off-road driving, seek out nocturnal hunters during night drives or inspect the local flora and water life during bush walks and boating trips, the chosen camps provide a wholly immersive experience.
Beginning in the Okavango Delta’s Kwara Reserve, Splash camp is situated near a permanent deep-water channel which, subject to water levels, allows for boating all year round. This water creates a spectacular diversity of habitats, enabling a rich variety of animals and birdlife to flourish.
Lagoon camp is situated further north in Kwando Reserve, an area renowned for some of Botswana’s best wild-dog sightings. Here too the vegetation is lush and varied, a combination which leads to plentiful game and especially good birding and predator sightings.
Splash camp and Lagoon camp are also sister camps, so benefit from a consistency in quality and high standard of management: each of their local Batswana teams offers an authentic and insightful experience, where their use of a tracker and driver-guide team also optimises the chance of encounters away from the beaten track.
