Pangolin Safari

Three relaxed, local feeling camps in pristine settings – the Kwando Reserve and Okavango Delta. Guided by a driver and tracker at each, this a great trip for spotting Botswana’s top predators.

Pangolin Safari: Summary

Pangolin Safari in a nutshell

This fantastic Botswana safari concentrates on two superb wildlife areas, starting in the exceptionally remote Kwando Reserve before exploring the world-famous Okavango Delta. The trip is eight nights long and you will stay in three top camps renowned for their guiding and excellent animal sightings.

If you are looking to tick off all the species of big game then this trip should deliver. In addition to elephant, buffalo and giraffe, there are also good numbers of leopard, lion, cheetah and wild dog. Unusually for Botswana, each vehicle comes with a driver-guide and a dedicated tracker, increasing your chances of sightings.

All of the camps are located in pristine, varied environments that are a snapshot of northern Botswana, from flooded Okavango lagoons and marshes to riverine forests and wide-open plains. The tented suites at each camp are very comfortable and the food is excellent. We also find them to have a more relaxed atmosphere and local feel than others in the region.

The camps are connected by air and road. Flights between are incredibly scenic, affording stunning views of the landscapes below. They will also give you the opportunity to spot larger species of wildlife from the air.

Lagoon Camp

Days 1-3

In the north of Botswana's vast Kwando Reserve, Lagoon Camp has a spectacular setting on the banks of the Kwando River. The wildlife around camp, where a band of lush riverine forest is interspersed with open plains, is particularly noted for the wild dogs that have habitually denned within the reserve since 1997, and the densities of elephants can also be exceptional.

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Various: from 30 minutes to half a day.

Low-flying, agile and offering superb views, helicopters are an ideal way to move around the Okavango Delta. You can use them instead of fixed-wing inter-lodge transfers or as an addition to other wildlife watching activities, and of course, helicopters can hover to allow that perfect pic, whereas fixed-wings can’t.
