"Crocodile Bushcamp review"

2 nights Arrived 11 Jun 2014
"Another excellent location but the remnants of the British camp somewhat soured the experience. Brent made the trip amazing.

You could tell that the staff at this camp was not as "seasoned" as the others" See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

"Creatively Remote."

2 nights Arrived 6 Jun 2014
"Even though Crocodile was so remote, the accommodations were very comfortable. The food was excellent and we were very impressed with the chef and the magic he did with very basic culinary tools.

The staff were very accommodating to our needs, even to supplying hot water on request.

Our guide, Brent, was extremely knowledgeable and made our walks very interesting and edifying." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Nichols at Crocodile"

2 nights Arrived 14 Oct 2013
"This was my favourite camp of the four we stayed at. The chalets face onto a small waterhole which ensures a constant parade of impala, warthogs, baboons and birds. We even had a lion stroll past as we were eating breakfast.

Although the accommodation is essentially a grass hut, it has all the facilities necessary and if there is the occasional frog sharing your bedroom, it's all part of the experience. If you prefer five star hotels, this isn't the holiday for you.

The guided walks were the highlight. You get closer to the animals when you're in a car but walking through the bush is a completely different experience. We were there in mid-October and it has to be said that with the temperature at around 38 degrees, some might find it excessively hot. By the time we got back from a walk at 10.00 a.m. we were all ready for a cold shower. It did mean, however, that the animals congregated around the available water and were much easier to spot.

Our guide, Brent Harris was very knowledgeable and keen to share his enthusiasm.
Considering the limited cooking facilities, the food was very impressive." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Perfect"

2 nights Arrived 26 Sep 2013
"Absolutely wonderful experience.

The camp was quite simply constructed, as a remote bush camp should be, but everything we needed was provided. The standard of service at the camp was extraordinarily good, especially considering that everything had to be carried in from the nearest river crossing. The food in particular was wonderful, all cooked from fresh on site.

The game walks were fantastic - we saw a leopard kill hidden away and were able to come back later and actually see the leopard. We also had a herd of buffalo pass in from of us at the same time as a herd of elephant were approaching from the side. And best of all, we came across a pride of 13 lion eating a freshly killed buffalo, or at least they were until they spotted us - a moment not for the faint-hearted! All thanks to our brilliant guide, Bryan." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 7n in Zambia; 2n in Zimbabwe; 2n in Botswana

"Atmospheric bush-camp"

2 nights Arrived 19 Sep 2013
"Another splendid bush-camp! Simpler than Chikoko, but very charming. There is a small waterhole that attracts hippos and warthogs.

Again, we were delighted with the team looking after us." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia

"Crocodile - Chikoko walking tour"

1 night Arrived 19 Sep 2013
"This was part of a circular tour we did from Tafika via Crocodile, Chikoko and back to Tafika. Our Guides were Brent and Mukupa with scout Levy.

Crocodile is a tiny camp, with ground level grass huts open at the front overlooking the waterhole. This is pumped so guarantees sightings from the camp. We saw Impala, Bushbuck, and Buffalo at the water. We also witnessed a (very nearly) sucessful Lion hunt right in front of our hut in the early morning before breakfast. The area round this camp was good for spotting Raptors and Vultures.

As with the other Remote Safari camps the staff took superb care of us." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"The lovely Crocodile Bushcamp"

1 night Arrived 7 Sep 2013
"Some prefer Chikoko, but we thought that Crocodile was absolutely the best - small, personal, friendly. OK, so there was not very much game at the water hole - but that isn't the fault of "Croc". We had a really good walk in, a great walk in the morning and a most excellent drive in the afternoon which enabled us to see four creatures which we had not previously seen.

Excellent staff with a sense of humour - needed when we gave a very short, impromptu concert!

We wish that we had spent at least one more night." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

"Great camps in a remote area only for walking"

1 night Arrived 2 Sep 2013
"Crocodile Bushcamp and Chikoko Tree Camp

After leaving Kaingo and crossing the Luangwa river two times by canoe we reached Crocodile Bushcamp. The area is an only walking area without any vehicles or their tracks around. On our 3 day walking safari we walked around the camps and from one camp to the other.

Crocodile Bushcamp and Chikoko Tree Camp are rustic but wonderful places to stay in the wild and without missing anything (remember no vehicles: everything incl. food and drinking water has to be carried to the camps by porters !!!). The food is fantasic and we didn't understand how they create those delicious meals just with an hole in the bottom oven!!! Like in all the other camps we had visited on our safari also the staff of these 2 bushcamps was so friendly and helpful.

Our guide during the whole walking safari was Isaak with an incredible guiding experience of more than 40 years !!!! He was the best walking guide we could have got. In his presence there was no moment where we felt uncomfortable or unsafe even when approaching lions or having unexpected encounters with hippos or elephants.

A walking safari is an other wonderful experience - you are part of the nature you visit and although we saw many big and small animals (I was surprised how close we could get to many of them) you see and learn so much about the small things you usually miss when going by vehicle. And Isaak told us so much about all those things - it was really fantastic!

In conclusion: If you visit Zambia don't miss to go on a walking safari - and Crocodile Bushcamp and Chikoko Tree Camp in an only walking area are perfect places to do it! (... and ask for Isaak as your Guide !!!)" See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia
