"Crocodile Bushcamp review"

1 night Arrived 2 Jul 2015
"Crocodile Bushcamp is simple, but the tents are clean and comfortable. The staff was attentive and the food was delicious.

Crocodile Bushcamp and Chikoko Tree Camp are satellite walking safari camps associated with Tafika. The 6 km / 3.5 mile walks between camps were relaxed and unhurried, though walking across areas with dried hippo footprints required some concentration. Our experienced walking safari guides, Isaac and Bryan, were excellent teachers educating us on details of the animals, birds and traditional uses of the local trees and plants. Unfortunately, wildlife was scarce on our walks. However, we did enjoy watching elephants, puku, impala, kudu, and baboons from the elevated vantage point of our tent at Chikoko Tree Camp.

We sought off after a small pride of lions that were frequenting the area near Crocodile Camp during our afternoon walk. They were close by, as we could hear them across the dry riverbed, but twilight was fast approaching and we had to return to the safety of camp. I don’t know if I was disappointed or relieved at missing the opportunity to see the lions on foot.

If I could have a do over in planning my itinerary after the fact, I would have added another night at Tafika and settled for one day walking safari at Chikoko Tree Camp, simply for the game viewing opportunities. Had we seen the lions while walking at Crocodile, perhaps my enthusiasm for the walking safaris would be different." "Very close to lions and elephant at Crocodile"

2 nights Arrived 22 Jun 2015
"We had close encounters with the Hollywood pride of lions and some grumpy elephants on our first morning walk at Crocodile Bush Camp. We were tracking the lions when 12 adults stood up in the grass very close to us. They made an exit but where chased back towards us by a grumpy herd of elephant. We then made a quick exit.

We saw a lot of other animals, birds plants and insects.

We again were well looked after this time by Brian and the Crocodile team and liked our room and its view." See all these reviews: 21n in Zambia

"A wonderful remote bush camp that allowed us to experience walking in the bush. The food was lovely and the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly.

The relaxed atmosphere of this camp really suited us and chatting in front of the camp fire under the stars was a real highlight." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

2 nights Arrived 9 Oct 2014
"Comments about Chikoko apply here. Less scenic in October than Chikoko, so we would probably have preferred to go to Crocodile first and have only 1 day here and 3 at Chikoko. But we still had a lovely time.

Because we were alone for both nights it was a particularly magical experience.

Too much sun in bar area during the day" See all these reviews: 15n in Zambia

"Great camp but less animals to view"

1 night Arrived 13 Sep 2014
"Remote Africa changed our schedule to spend one night only at Crocodile camp and two at Chikiko because of the time of year. The facilities are good but that area had a lot less animal life at the time we were visiting.

It was our first experience of walking safaris. the walks were very informative understanding more of the flora and fauna and the environment despite the fewer animal sightings." See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia; 3n in Rwanda; 2n in Kenya

"First walking safari to Crocodile"

1 night Arrived 26 Aug 2014
"Loved Crocodile it was so peaceful and enjoyed watching the animals coming to drink at the water hole.

Visited the kitchen and where the bread is made. The staff are very proud of what they produce and so they should be producing such good food with limited facilities.

Coming to Crocodile was our first encounter of a walking safari, that feeling of being out In the bush is not be missed. Alex our guide brought so much to the whole experience." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Crocodile Bushcamp review"

2 nights Arrived 14 Jun 2014
"The walk from Chikoko to Crocodile takes you through stunning landscapes, which is the same with the walks from the camps. Again, the camp is beautifully made, all from natural materials, with fabulous colourful accents from local textiles.

The Chikoko Trails is well worth doing -- the terrain is not difficult, the guide sets the pace to yours and you are introduced to a wealth of detail about all facets of the bush." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia

"Crocodile"

2 nights Arrived 12 Jun 2014
"Second visit to Crocodile. I slightly prefer the camp to Chikoko. On my last visit (late Aug) it seemed there was a lot more game around at Chikoko. At this time of the year there seemed less of a difference, perhaps due to more water around at Crocodile?

There seemed to be some new decor touches around the camp and in the rooms since my last stay (Aug 2009). The walk in mosquito nets are a definite improvement and the robes are a nice touch. I also like the hammocks (but these aren't new).

As with Chikoko the grass was very high in places.

A lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful camp, and Brent was an excellent guide and host." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
