Hawkfish Island holiday in a nutshell
Arriving by helicopter from Mahé, watch as Frégate’s forested hills appear on the horizon, your idyllic castaway island home for the next four nights.
On this island of just three square kilometres, 17 sophisticated residences are dotted around the coastline, making them wonderfully private. Each comes with an infinity pool, Jacuzzi, daybed, dining pavilion and incredible views. You could easily spend all five days here – but there’s much to explore for those who fancy it.
Seven stunning beaches skirt the island, one of which is regularly voted among the most beautiful beaches in the world, and you may find one all to yourself.
The Indian Ocean waters are your playground. Below the waves, find vibrant reefs to explore by snorkel or on a PADI-certified dive course. Night dives are also possible here, and a little further out, dolphins, whales and manta rays are occasional visitors. On the surface, sail, kayak, surf, fish, waterski and take a powerboat on day trips to nearby islands.
Freégate itself is criss-crossed by 11km of trails where you can walk alongside wandering giant tortoises, mountain bike or join the resident conservationist to find out about the incredible work to save the Seychelles magpie robin and rewild the former plantation. You can also assist the team with fieldwork, searching for emerging sea-turtle hatchlings or checking nestboxes for eggs and chicks.
Dining wherever you like – on the beach, in the branches of a banyan tree, a scenic lookout, restaurant or your villa – is always an experience. Produce is freshly picked and caught with the majority of produce organically grown on the island.
Add in the fabulous spa and always excellent service and you have the consummate private-island experience that is hard to leave.
