"The Elegant Guesthouse review"

1 night Arrived 17 May 2011
"The receptionist was not (Lisel?) was not paricularly genuine or pleasant. It was cold and noisy.

Breakfast was good and the woman manning the desk when we left was very pleasant.

It was looking a bit shabby and I would not recommend it." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia

"The Elegant Guesthouse review"

3 nights Arrived 14 May 2011
"A pleasant if rather impersonal place to stay, with a good breakfast buffet and eggs cooked to order, and tea & coffee available all day. On arrival we were given a printed sheet warning us about muggings on tourists and advising us to take a taxi to and from the restaurant in the evening. On a weekday evening we drove into the centre of Windhoek and parked outside a restaurant where car-guards operate, and did not feel threatened or at risk in doing this. We enjoyed wonderful food at Gathemann's in a lovely old fashioned setting, also lunch on the terrace at Cafe Zoo was most enjoyable." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"A good hotel for its purpose as an overnight stay before our flight. Helpful staff and comfortable room.

Pool was OK though it was raining so we only had a quick swim." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"An Ideal First or Last Night Stop"

1 night Arrived 10 Nov 2010
"Situated on the side of Windhoek closest to the airport, the location is ideal.

The guesthouse has a very pleasing, modern design with good rooms, all at ground floor level and is in a quiet neighbourhood. There is an honesty system for any drinks you take from the fridge in the restaurant and complimentary tea and coffee at all times. There is secure parking and it is very easy to find after long flights when maybe you are not at your best. Breakfast is a combination of light buffet and someone to cook eggs etc in the open kitchen.

All in all we can't think of how it could have done it's job of a clean, quiet and comfortable first night stop any better." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Elegant Guesthouse"

1 night Arrived 19 Oct 2010
"The Elegant Guesthouse is an oasis in Windhoek. It was straightforward to find driving from the airport. The staff were friendly and helpful and greeted us with a welcome drink. The guesthouse is close to the city centre - a short drive, we chose not to walk due to the heat and on the advice of staff at the guesthouse. We had an enjoyable dinner at Joe's Beer House - close by and well worth a visit (we took a taxi, NAD 50 each way).

Breakfast at the guesthouse was good, including eggs and bacon made to order.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. The guesthouse is ideal for your first or last night in Namibia." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia

"The Elegant Guesthouse final stop"

1 night Arrived 8 Oct 2010
"Same comments as before. We ate outside at Fusion again, same wine, same food...

Disappointed with Windhoek shopping, although the Alte Fest Museum was well worth the visit. The National Art Gallery was closed on Saturday, not as Chris says in his book. It might have been interesting to have had a guided tour of even just 1 hour. We had most of the day available but couldn't really fill it given shopping wasn't attractive.

Elegant were very accommodating with our late departure for the airport at 1530 hours." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
