"Great location. Pity it does not have a pool.

Ideally book rooms that allow you to sit on a balcony and admire the view." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Great location and comprehensive facilities"

3 nights Arrived 19 Apr 2017
"First impression was of top notch hotel. However room allocated had to be changed to larger sea view room. Very comfortable. The restaurant options provided lots of choice and the micro brewery had great beer. Buffet breakfast was excellent.

We had a really chilled time and visited surrounding areas to get acclimatised to Namibia." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia

"An oasis of comfort - but lacking local feel"

3 nights Arrived 5 Apr 2017
"Arriving at the Hotel after a nine hour drive down the Skeleton Coast and 10 days in the bush was something of a shock - we walked dishevelled into an air-conditioned marble clad reception and suddenly found we were in an international standard hotel. And that's the problem - we didn't want to be in an international hotel, we wanted to continue to feel we were fully in Africa. So we would have preferred something more local and authentic. Having said that, reception sorted out a room problem and our rooms were very comfortable and the staff helpful and the breakfast excellent. Signage to the adjoins Ocean restaurant is inadequate - we wandered out of the hotel into the evening darkness and spent serval minutes trying to find it. A sign outside the door would have been helpful! Also there is no pool. unlike in all the camps we stayed in. And the wifi didn't work for most of our three night stay - bizarre given that it had worked better in some very remote places

We thought Swakop was well over-rated - examples of German colonial architecture are few and far between and otherwise it is simply an unremarkable, useful 'administrative' stop over - we had a camera that needed maintenance, an infected leg that needed a doctor, and a puncture to repair. But I would keep any stopover to two nights - enough to do the Walvis Bay tour and the quad biking / sandboarding adventure, which our kids loved - and then get back out into the real remote Namibia again." "If you like hotels you'll like The Strand"

2 nights Arrived 25 Feb 2017
"Following our flight up to Swakop from Geluk in the morning we were unable to check in to our rooms until 1400, which wasn't handled well.

If you like hotels then you'll like the Strand which is perfectly adequate with a very comfy room, but after too many hotel nights in a business career I would very much preferred something else, but Swakop was apparently booked out. There's no pool.

Swakop on a Sunday had little to recommend it." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Strand Hotel review"

2 nights Arrived 5 Nov 2016
"We stayed here for two nights. The hotel has been beautifully renovated, there are photos and maps of days gone by throughout the hotel. The rooms are fresh, clean and comfortable.

The breakfasts at the Farmhouse Deli are great and have a wonderful selection of delicious food.

The service throughout the hotel is very good.

The great location makes this hotel a ideal place to stay.

Whilst in Swakopmund, these travellers took a day trip to Sandwich Harbour, here's what they said about it:
What a great tour to Sandwich Harbour. Our guide Burger collected us at our hotel and we drove through Walvis Bay stopping to see the bird life on the way. We had an adventurous drive down along the coast to Sandwich Harbour stopping at points of interest pointed out by Burger. We stopped for a lovely lunch and climbed the sand dunes. We came back through the dunes, spotting Springbok and seals.

Burger was fun, knowledgeable and really made our day out more of an experience. Well worth the day out." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 8n in Botswana
