"Eningu Clayhouse review"
We've stayed there twice before (during the tenure of Stephanie and Volker) and could see little significant change. We like it. The food was good, but our two dinners both had heavy first and second courses (eg beef carpaccio, followed by eland goulash!), which seemed odd given the wide choice of really excellent salads at lunch time." "Perfect first night in namibia"
"great!"
From the books there are now new owners, not that it matters. The new manager, Bennie , was a great host! Very friendly, very nice. Gave us his card and said to call him anywhere, anytime if we have any kind of issues! Can't get better than this.
OOOOOOOOOO but THIS is important!!!!!!!!! We read nowhere in the Lonely Planet nor Brants guides that there is no heat in any of the Lodges in this country (maybe it is in there but we didn't remember seeing it). This was a bit of an issue. When we got there they were in a bit of a cold weather snap. It was about -5 at night. Being Canadians we have TONS of cold weather gear but didn't bring stuff for temps like this. We had to go buy fleese jackets in Windhoek.
Related to this, they have a great "hot" tub, which would have been nice to use, however they kept the temp so low it was like a cold pool! We didn't use it." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

The 64 km gravel road drive to Eningu went well enough but it was a firm reminder that we had another 2000 plus kilometres of this kind of road ahead of us!
The welcome at Eningu was very warm indeed. We were instantly offered refreshments as our bags were taken to our room. It provided a much needed respite after what was a long and rather boring Air Namibia flight - the poor in-flight entertainment didn't help!
We liked Eningu a lot, wonderful food, a comfortable room and a chance to go for a walk. We also saw porcupines!" See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

Accommodation good tho' bedroom too full of bric-a-brac for our tastes! Pool excellent
Food and wine good. Good library for German-speakers.
No game guides but excellent walking network. game distinctly wary and hard to get to grips with but appeared to be fair variety. Birding good. Camp waterhole would benefit from cutting back vegetation which obscures much of it from view." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
"friendly stay at Eningu clayhouse"
The rooms are really comfortable and the use of clay is really clever. Its location is fabulous, so close to the airport, and so we wish kate, the lodge owner, all the best for the future." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Last day in Namibia"
The other guests were all Germans who had been on a trip and this was their rest for 2/3 days so they were quite miserable - not much fun lying round the pool in scarves and fleeces.
The food was probably the worst of the trip. We left at 10am and went to Daan Viljoen Game Park which turned out to be a nice end to the holiday. On reflection we would have missed out on Eningu." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana
She commented that the cold weather was unexpected, but the southerly wind brought rain that the country sorely needed at that time of the year. The lodge made a cozy fire indoors, and offered warm drinks throughout the day. Fortunately the cold was mainly in the morning, so walks around Eningu in the afternoon were still usually pleasant.
Kate is personally involved at the lodge, often even helping with the service of meals and drinks, and she commented that the menu that particular evening was:
* Springbok & wild honey pastry served with oven baked parmesan & garlic
bread
* Hartebeest fillet with smoked springbok, served with a white onion gravy &
potato croquettes and vegetables from the garden.
* Homemade Italian fresh banana ice-cream served with a homemade cognac
truffle.
She comments that she has taken this feedback very seriously, and remains committed to trying to deliver the highest standards possible.
