"Hotel shows sign of aging"

1 night Arrived 14 Sep 2019
"This hotel is in the middle of nowhere and were run by the staff who are also working in the kitchen.

It feels more like a mobile than a hotel. The room is quite basic and food choice is limited." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"An oasis of calm"

1 night Arrived 3 Oct 2018
"Hotel Helmeringhausen was a stop on the way for us, but a surprisingly lovely stay.

It has a beautiful garden to sit outside the rooms, with really interesting birds to watch.

A short walk up the little hill behind the hotel brings you to a sitting area to watch the sun go down over a wide view, before returning for some nice food." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Unusual stopover in Helmeringhausen"

1 night Arrived 24 Jun 2018
"We had a separate house from the main lodge, which was nice as it gave us a lot of privacy and our own garden and parking area. The room was very spacious.

It was a bit odd that there were no cups or glasses in the house at all and we could only get them (along with everything you'd need to self cater) with a deposit.
In general the amount of warnings on the walls of the lodge suggested that they don't really trust their guests.

Despite this the service was really friendly and the food lovely. We also enjoyed the short walk up a hill behind the lodge to enjoy the sunset." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia; 4n in South Africa

"Hotel Helmeringhausen review"

1 night Arrived 3 Mar 2018
"It was surprising to find quite a large hotel in such a small place!

Helmeringhausen comprises a garage, a shop and the Hotel which is perfectly adequate for an overnight stop.

We didn't encounter the rude side of the owners which we had heard about. The staff were friendly. There was an adequate set price dinner but the breakfast wasn't great." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia; 5n in South Africa

"Disappointing"

1 night Arrived 6 Jan 2018
"This hotel was poorly run, staff didn't look like they wanted to do any work, it was all bit of an effort, when we arrived we may have been the only guests, until a car broke down & it was Sunday so no one was available to do any repairs, so we had some company but we can't have given them a lot of work!

The room was so hot with a noisy fan that we had to try to reach a plug in order for it to be effective.

The windows were poorly fitting & it would have been easy for anyone to break in or creepy crawlies to come in.

The food was a poor & I wouldn't recommend this as a stopover." See all these reviews: 27n in Namibia; 1n in Botswana

"The Faulty Towers of Namibia"

1 night Arrived 15 Oct 2017
"Fortunately we only spent one night here and that was one too many.

Staff were generally quite rude, the room was very basic, with a small very uncomfortable double bed. The food was poor with no choice. The pool area was quite dirty, the sun beds were stained and there was a dead rodent floating in the pool.

Generally a very unpleasant experience." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Hotel Helmeringhausen"

1 night Arrived 8 Feb 2017
"We had thought beforehand that it would have been possible to spend more time at Dabis, and therefore less here. However that was not possible.

The hotel was adequate, but not the best place to spend a day !" See all these reviews: 27n in Namibia; 4n in South Africa; 3n in Botswana

"Hotel Helmeringhausen review"

1 night Arrived 8 Aug 2016
"This was an extremely useful stopover, and something of an oasis, with an attractive garden.

The room was spacious and perfectly comfortable, though the instructions from management were rather on the negative side.

The supper was at a fixed time, and fairly basic though adequate." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia; 3n in South Africa

"Hotel Helmeringhausen review"

1 night Arrived 25 Jul 2016
"A useful stopover between Sossusvlei & Fish River Canyon or Luderitz. (Helmeringhausen is just a collection of around half a dozen buildings so there is nothing of interest to do here.)

The room was a bit dated but clean. Very quiet - only one other couple there." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
