"Grand tents at Mushara"

3 nights Arrived 20 Oct 2008
"The tents are on wooden platforms and extremely comfortable, even down to the jug of milk in the fridge ,tea pot and coffee for us to make our own and have it on our verrandah.

Food was good, and breakfast was prepared when you wanted it, early or late.

There was a more formal feel at this lodge than Ongava or Okonjima, although the staff were friendly, it just wasn't as relaxed. However, it was an extrememly comfortable place to stay after driving round Etosha all day, and it was very close to Namutoni gate, so we didn't regret not staying inside Etosha itself. The speed bumps inside the Outpost were very high, and built for 4 wheel drives, not 2!

We bought a pass for 4 days to Etosha, so only had to fill in the paperwork once at the gate, so again there was no problem about staying outside the park.

The pool was good, and plenty of loungers round it, for a break from driving." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Absolute luxury"

2 nights Arrived 24 Aug 2008
"A fantastic place to stay, 8 double tents with wooden front doors on a raised deck and 2 "pilot's rooms". The central facility is superb, with inside and outside dining and a wood-fired boma for a pre-dinner drinks. Life is really tough! We were unable to make full use of all the facilities because we were so busy, but the pool looked super. There is a bird-watching "hide" near a small waterhole in the grounds, but a very long lens is needed for photos - 400mm isn't enough, even with a 1.6x sensor factor!

Dinner is a set meal, served to us at a set time so is very different to elsewhere on our trip, but nonetheless excellent food, beautifully prepared and served. On one evening we had a singing session with what appeared to be every member of staff involved - thoroughly enjoyable.

Another really nice feature was that when we enquired about activities, we were told that they recommended us to do our "own thing" rather than be tied to the fairly limited offers from Mushara Lodge that we could have joined in with.

Also, within a day or so of our return we has an e-mail "thank you" for our compliments to the staff on the visitor survey form - a very nice, thoughtful touch that shows they care about their customers - just like ExpertAfrica!!" See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia

"Mushara Outpost review"

2 nights Arrived 17 Jul 2008
"We did not enjoy these two nights. We felt there was too much emphasis on luxury in main lodge (we just wanted basic, comfortable accomodation, not over-the-top vogue-style decorations) and disliked the small, cramped wooden lodges facing boring bush/scrubland. Other guests all German. One table for all guests.

Friendly, well trained staff. Chef kindly accomodated our off the menu food requests.

As we had exited the park (due to pass time out) we enjoyed an afternoon in Tsumeb. Had excellent lunch in Makalani Hotel and wish we could have spent second night there instead of reluctantly returning to Mushara Outpost. By this time we were feeling the need to avoid isolated and secluded lodges!" See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Mushara Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 30 Mar 2008
"Very luxury and stylish lodge; less rustic than many other lodges - the communal area looks like something straight out of an interior design magazine.

We had a guide take us into Etosha who was extremely knowledgeable. Not many animals on their own land, but then again you're only 10 minutes from Etosha.

I thought the food here was excellent and probably the best of all the lodges we stayed." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
