"Etendeka Mountain Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 15 Oct 2008
"Well, Etendeka is Etendeka and it's an experience we wouldn't have missed. Our second visit too.

However, we do feel that the "no frills" philosophy is taken to excess, particularly given the exorbitant cost. Surely, they could rustle up some eggs for breakfast!" See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Etendeka Mountain Camp"

2 nights Arrived 26 Sep 2008
"This camp was abit of a shock - we hadn't realised how rustic it was! Having said that the tents were clean and comfortable.
The atmosphere was good - Dennis and Claire were very hands on.

The morning walk was interesting but we only stayed one night instead of the two we had booked because of the car issues. Claire was very helpful in arranging our additional accomodation in Kamunjab.

Another camp that is a long distance from the road - 1 to 1.5 hours - although the camp do transport you." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Etendeka Mountain Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 18 Sep 2008
"Etendeka Mountain Camp is what staying in Africa is all about. You get a real sense of being out in the wilderness. Through the flap of your spacious and comfortable tent, you can see game wandering by, and at night you can hear the animals through the canvas. It is a remote camp, even by Namibian standards, and we saw our best night sky ever here - awe inspiring. It's a well run operation, the owners were good hosts, the staff were friendly, the guide excellent and the food fabulous.

We did a fantastic morning bush walk which was a leisurely 4 hour on-foot safari, and an afternoon game drive. Even after 2 weeks in Namibia, we still found the scenery new and spectacular.

We left the camp wishing we'd booked a 3rd night, however, on our drive back to the pick-up point, we were rewarded with a once-in-a-life-time view of a young leopard, who wandered up to our jeep out of curiosity!" See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Lovely family run camp with good with basic accomodation. The bucket shower was fun to use and even warm!! We saw more game here than anywhere else apart from Etosha.

We hope that the camp does not change too much." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Etendeka Mountain Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 14 Aug 2008
"Despite spartan conditions (it was unexpectedly cold). The owner Denis is a thoughtful man , who interestingly described the relationship of ranch to local community and to tourism in general .

Had a wonderful Indian head massange from his wife Clare. Pick up drive was part of the attraction, number of game seen.

Opportunity to go on guided walk particularly appreciated" See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"Etendeka Mountain Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 18 Jul 2008
"Very interesting camp - I was afraid that we might have been jaded by all the good food, facilities and service by this stage of the trip but this was not the case. This was so different from everything we had experienced thus far that we were not in any way disappointed.

Dennis was extremely informative as was our guide Boni who was very competent. Clare was a very attentive hostess and generously supplied a lunch box when we left." See all these reviews: 12n in Botswana; 8n in Namibia; 2n in Zambia

"Fabulous experience - unforgettable"

3 nights Arrived 17 Jul 2008
"We loved Etendeka (all 4 of us, including our children aged 11 and 10 who really didn't want to leave). It is a fantastic place in a fantastic part of the country. The simple comfort of the tents, the excellence and homeliness of the food, the outstanding quality of the guiding by Bonny and Dennis. There is nothing else to add - it is one of the most memorable places we have stayed anywhere in Africa." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Etendeka Mountain Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 18 Jun 2008
"We are real outdoors people so this suited us fine but I'm not sure it quite matched its description. For example Etendeka and Erongo Wilderness both describe themselves as wilderness BUT luxury in tents However there is a big difference between the 2 and someone expecting the same might be disappointed in Etendeka.

Bonny the guide was brilliant. The walking and game drives really suited us" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Simply the best camp around - forget the luxury camps, this is the one to stay in and spend time at, nowhere gets you closer to nature and you can't beat a few drinks at the end of the day with Dennis and then looking at the night skies." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Etendeka Mountain Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 15 May 2008
"A split opinion on this one. Two of our party would have liked a little more comfort, two of us just absolutely loved the remoteness of this place and the sensitive way the place is run in the surroundings - run by two families we felt very welcome.

It is not an easy place to live, but to share it for a time a priviledge. It will be interesting to see how they develop the reserve whilst maintaining its integrity.

To see the game trully in the wild, not in a reserve was wonderful - thank you to the elephant who wandered by and the zebra who were in their own heaven as the grass was so good - but beware the lions will be back." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
