All of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and they contributed hugely to our enjoyment. The food was variable, some excellent, some not as good. Liked the dining area and that staff waited on you. The staff wre great with our children,(13and17years old).
There were lots of nice touches, coffee in room in morning, sherry in the room in the evening and hot water bottles! All in all, an amazing stay!" See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana

Unfortunately, water levels meant there wasn't much game on the island itself, but the boat trips we took were wonderfully relaxing, and the scarcity of game meant we decided to take a more relaxed approach to our game viewing, spending "quality time" with, for example, a baby giraffe and its mother and a family of warthogs, rather than worrying about "more exciting" game sightings.
If this had been our first or our last camp I think we would have been a bit disappointed about the lack of game (luck of the draw on safari trips!), but as it was our "middle" camp, it actually worked very well for us in terms of a relaxing contrast and also gave us an insight into a more watery environment in the Delta, so were are happy we went to Shinde.
The accommodation and food - while very good - were not as good as at the first (Chitabe Lediba) or last (Lagoon) camps." See all these reviews: 9n in Botswana

We were also lucky to see a leopard and its prey as well as a romantic lion couple. Great setting for the Camp." See all these reviews: 10n in Botswana

The elephants wandering through the camp during night were a bonus. The staff were very attentive and were keen to cater to our choices of activities. The boat trips were particularly interesting and different to anything we've done elsewhere in Africa.
When a leopard was spotted near the airstrip and a report was radioed into camp one lunchtime, the staff went out of their way to drive us straight out there and make sure that we had a good view of it." See all these reviews: 4n in Botswana

We had a wonderful guide, Relax, mostly to ourselves, thanks to the manager who figured that sending out birders (us) together with non-birders (all the other guests) was probably less than ideal.
The boat trip to the heronry was a bit disappointing, which probably had a lot to do with our trip to the Kanana heronry a few days earlier (which is a lot bigger).
Those motor boats seem to have technical issues worryingly often (not just at Shinde, apparently: it seemed every traveller we talked to had his own war story to tell). On this particular trip, we only ran out of gas, and there was an extra canister on board, so it wasn't particularly dramatic. It still meant that our boat was drifting for 5-10 minutes, in a stretch of water with hippos and the occasional elephant crossing.
The following day a boat ride had to be aborted because the engine caught fire. We restricted ourselves to game drives after that, and they were great throughout." See all these reviews: 10n in Botswana

The guide we had in the boats and mokoro, Bonolo, was very good: knowledgeable and personable with it." See all these reviews: 10n in Botswana
