Stone Town

Stone Town was constructed during the 19th century...

...and hasn’t changed much since then.

You can enjoy beautiful views of the ocean...

...and discover what remained...

...from its rich history.

Stone Town is something of a labyrinth...

...with small alleys that offer places to shop and eat.

The atmosphere is unique and romantic...

...and you can watch some beautiful sunsets over the ocean.

"So happy with this trip"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 6 Jul 2010 and 21 Jul 2010
"This was a completely wonderful holiday - exceeded our very high expectations.

Was so pleased I used Expert Africa: good advice at every stage, and so we got a trip that was just what we wanted. It was obvious that all the staff members I spoke to had first-hand experience of the camps and so could really help with our choices, and were very helpful talking through what we needed to consider.

Thank you.

These travellers subsequently wrote to us:

As you see, we really did have a fantastic holiday, and are extremely pleased that we used Expert Africa to help us get the trip we wanted. We realised while we were away how good your advice had been, and that we had a more "adventurous" holiday than I would have confident booking without that advice.

Not all the other people we met while we were away felt they had such a good experience with their own agents. This was often because they had taken a package deal so had little if any choice of camp and hadn't not known what to expect, through a variety of people with small problems changing onto internal flights at Dar Es Salaam, to some people who had been routed through Johannesburg during the World Cup and found themselves with nowhere to stay!

We were happy to mention Expert Africa as we really felt that the whole trip was very well organised and just what we hoped. The two camps in particular were so welcoming especially to the children - before we left, so many people had told me how brave I was to take my kids on safari that I had started to wonder whether it really was a sensible decision, but they loved it, learnt so much and felt included in everything we did." "A memorable adventure"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 1 Jun 2010 and 13 Jun 2010
"As a whole we had a fantastic trip full of memorable experiences.

The people were friendly and welcoming and the accommodation was generally good. The shooting Star lodge was a little disappointing but did not ruin the overall experience.

The service we received from expert Africa has been ecellent, and I would recommend them." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 8 on a Zanzibar holiday

"Zanzibar another holiday we will not forget"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 6 Mar 2010 and 21 Mar 2010
"Well organised and just what we wanted.
Actually it was 2 weeks of 5 star treatment in 5 Star locations.

While we were rather concerned that the BA return flight would be cancelled we had to phone your office and tell them we were at risk. In the end all was well.

"Zanzibar Trip"

I visited Zanzibar between 5 Mar 2010 and 12 Mar 2010
"We only booked part of our trip to Tanzania through Expert Africa - the final week (of three in total) on Zanzibar (we booked the rest elsewhere as we were climbing Kilimanjaro). We really enjoyed all three weeks - Tanzania is a great country to visit. The people are really friendly, the wildlife and countryside is amazing and the Swahili cuisine was delicious. Oh, and the sun shone while it was winter back in England! Zanzibar, with its beautiful beaches, was a great place to relax after a couple of more active weeks on the mainland. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would love to return one day.

Suggestions for improvement:

Not really - we were extremely impressed with the service we received and have already recommended Expert Africa to others. We had problems while we were way as our flights to and from Zanzibar were cancelled - Liz did an excellent job of helping sort out alternative travel, ensuring our honeymoon was not spoilt in anyway by these problems." "Excellent!"

I visited Zanzibar between 20 Feb 2010 and 5 Mar 2010
"A greatly enjoyable trip. A very, very special place and people!

Expert Africa organized this perfectly for us! Thank you! It couldn't have been better.... we wish we could have stayed for longer.

There are so many things to do and see, yet one can have a trully relaxing and laid back time if/when they choose to.

Staying in a variety of places during our 2-week stay at Zanzibar was ideal in terms of seeing and experiencing different parts of the island which can be quite different from one another.
