"Just go - it is fantastic!"

I visited Tanzania between 8 Sep 2012 and 16 Sep 2012
"We are hard to satisfy as we have traveled a lot and always have hight expectations. This was a very well organized trip and expertafrica is truly a specialist in its field. They delivered great service with a lot of patience for our various demands.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

It may be a good idea to monitor the professional qualifications of the safari guides as there are clearly differences which the visitor should know about prior to deciding on the camp. At Ruaha the guide had started as a waiter in the camp and then worked his way up and got trained by Fox himself. In SA Sabi Sabi we came across guides with a degree as a safari field guide and he was the third generation and practically started training with his grandfather.

We met a lot of experienced safari tourists who are interested in very knowledgable guides. We also believe it is important to have a driver and a guide rather than a single driver guide who we had in Selous. There needs to be a lot more information avaibable in your brochures and website on the training the guides have received for us to make an informed decision which trip and camp to book.

To manage expectations you should also explain the various areas to go on safari - for example: you get very close to wildlife if you are on a private game park safari (SA) in contrast to a National Park (Ruaha), where there are stricter rules to not follow the animals beyond the tracks. You may also point out that the local game parks provide shooting licenses for parts of the park (to make more money) which is affecting the behaviour of wildlife and visibility when you are on a safari close to such an area. "My Aug 2012 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 18 Aug 2012 and 25 Aug 2012
"We had an amazing time and it certainly surpassed our expectations. We feel that both places were the real Africa and were not touristy, sterile hotels.

We were made to feel very welcome.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

It was a very good service and Liz [Ed: of Expert Africa] was very helpful. We probably would not have known about Ras Kutani without her and Expert Africa. This was a good alternative to Zanzibar.

We would certainly use the company again and will recommend it to friends." Read full review: 7 nights in Africa; 4 on a Tanzania safari

"My Aug 2012 trip"

I visited Mozambique and 1 other country between 2 Aug 2012 and 20 Aug 2012
"The trip was excellent experience a lifetime experience I would easily say. Everything was planned excellent by Expert Africa and I would like to thank you about.

I have one minor issue with your instructions where nowhere I could see that the USDs accepted in Tanzania had to be issued after 2000 and in Mozambique after 2006 I think. This created some friction and uncentanty when I was paying in cash and it made me feel uncomfortable close to the end of the trip when I was running low in cash that it was accepted.

Aside that congratulations to your planning, but I would like you to inform everybody about the small extra costs like departure taxes from Mozambiqual airports as well as transit visas to Tanzania and so on.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Apply as much pressure as you can to the hotels for value for money as well as to the governments to reduce visa costs. A USA visa costs 30 euros a Tanzanian one 50 (one entry) and a Mozambiquan 80 and if you wanted a transit you had to another 30 for Tanzania. Again I had the feeling that all of the government agencies that I had to deal with were trying to rip me off as a tourist." Read full review: 18 nights in Africa; 11 on a Mozambique holiday

"Brilliant first trip to Africa!"

I visited Tanzania between 13 Jul 2012 and 22 Jul 2012
"This was the first trip to Tanzania, or indeed Africa, for me and my husband. My daughters, who were with us, have been before though. We had the most brilliant time. My daughters and husband climbed Kilimanjaro then flew down to Ras Kutani to meet me and have a day or so to recover. It was a perfect place for that! Loved the monkeys there! Expert Africa did brilliantly in recommending Ruaha and Selous for our safari time. Neither had hordes of other vehicles rushing round and the former gave some wonderful close encounters with the wildlife whilst The Selous was such a beautiful landscape. Both Mdonya and Beho Beho were wonderful experiences and I would happily return there in a trice. Expert Africa also kindly arranged a road transfer for me to Ras Kutani so I was able to see some of 'normal' life on the way.

All of us felt it was a very special and exciting holiday and I cannot thank Expert Africa enough for their help in creating such a good experience. Hopefully that will be the first of many African adventures we have with you!" Read full review: 9 nights in Africa; 6 on a Tanzania safari

"Some good sightings: not the best destination"

I visited Tanzania between 26 Jun 2012 and 6 Jul 2012
"Some very good wildlife sightings and scenery, particularly in Ruaha - a good place for lion, elephant and giraffe. The Mdonya Old River Camp was good, the camps in the Selous less so. The Selous is a reasonable choice for your first safari, particularly if not travelling alone, but I think less suitable for experienced safari goers or those travelling solo. The travelling takes up quite a lot of time and coastal aviation are not that reliable. Overall I would consider Zambia a better destination than Southern Tanzania.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

I'm slightly biased (and lucky) in having been to Zambia on safari, which is much more laid bad, good for individuals and where you see similar species. There seems to be a lot more hassle visiting Tanzania - Dar International Airport is one of the worst (worse than Lusaka) and coastal aviation are very unreliable." "8 Days in Ruaha"

I visited Tanzania between 31 May 2012 and 10 Jun 2012
"Overall an excellent trip

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

I would like to see the website/brochure with a bit more information on pricing- at least guideline prices. Also information on special offers eg "stay 4-pay 3". As a solo traveller, information on single supplements and ideas for trips with low or no single supplements would be much appreciated." Read full review: 10 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari
